[MC/Corsair] Corsair 900D "Godzilla" unveiled - Page 111

The TJ11 is all aluminum AFAIK and is totally put together with screws rather than rivets. Its my understanding that these two factors contribute greatly to its high cost...

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Yep, I didn't realize how much aluminum added to case cost - turns out the cost for 100% aluminum is fairly substantial. TJ11 is a beautiful case; if money were no issue I would definitely get one. I admit I had to do a double take when I did a price check on it, lol.

The screw thing adds to labor costs, but I doubt it's that significant unless it's insanely complex to assemble.

The full aluminum adds a LOT to the cost, and especially in the thickness they use for the main unibody section. Also, anodizing the interior likely has a low yield (lots of scratches and discarded motherboard trays and whatnot) so that adds a lot of cost as well.

If we made the 900D out of full aluminum it'd cost more than the TJ11 I'd bet.

Im sure white is a very popular color among enthusiast (im basing this on how many ppl are getting the white 600t vs black). Is there a reason why white is ignored? cost? not really popular?

Agreed and +1 for xoleras.

It's easier to find a scapegoat or someone/something to blame than to understand how the world or economy works. Example: lack of jobs = illegal immigrants. frown.gif

More popular in some designs than others. Also you can't anodize in white, so you'd have to powder coat the aluminum, or paint it, which would look pretty much the same as plastic then.

Though a white 900D with silver (clear) anodized faceplate might be cool. Stainless steel looking.

I agree with George that the 900D probably isn't really right for white. It works absolutely perfectly on the 600T though...

I will agree the 600T is sexy in white and i wouldn't mind a special edition white 900D.
