[MC/Corsair] Corsair 900D "Godzilla" unveiled - Page 143

post #1421 of 5816
@CorsairGeorge

I watched the Linus video just now, and all I can say is WOW. It looks stunning. However, I have one concern about the case from that video. When looking at the front, it seems that the drive-panel covers leak light - i.e. aren't as snug as the 800D's drive-covers. Is this simply because its a prototype (I'm guessing it is)?

Also, one of the things that was (almost) perfect about the 800D was the PSU-covered area. I.e. the horizontal platform above the PSU which had two tubing holes as well as a 120mm (or 140?) fan. It was nice as it made the case clean, but didn't quite work as the side-window went below it (meaning you could see the PSU area). In the 900D, the side-window starts higher up, so that there's no direct side view of the PSU, but there's no longer that "cover", meaning that when you look down at the case, you'll still be able to see the hoard of cables coming from the PSU. Is this piece still present (and was removed for the demo), or was it removed from the design?

Other than that, the case looks amazingly good, and will definitely be the next case to buy (probably when I upgrade my GPUs or go liquid).

I have to put my fan controller in the top slot now below the I/O panel so i can have room to fill my bay res but its no big deal.

The last 2 water cooling rigs I did use dual bay reservoirs, I sort of like the look. That isn't to say I don't like my dual D5 pump top and reservoir combo, I just like seeing the "juice" flow.

I also like to have an optical drive (usually BluRay) in my rig so I can read and rip. While you can mount a DVD reader/writer or BluRay reader in an external enclosure, none of the USB3.0 drive enclosures will allow you to WRITE to a BluRay drive (at least none of the ones I've ever seen), so an internal optical drive is a must for me.

For this case, 4 drive bays is enough, because I don't bother with fan controllers. I personally just like setting my radiator fans up at 1450 RPM (which in the case of Gentle Typhoon AP-14s, is next to silent) and let them run. I really don't have a need to constantly adjust my system fans. If I absolutely HAD to have something that I needed to control and/or monitor my fans and not use my motherboard, I'd go with something like an Aqua Computer Aquaero 5 LT, which can be controlled via a USB port and you can mount this somewhere in your case (ie NOT in a 5.25" external bay). So for me, 4 external bays is plenty.

But that's just me, and everyone's need are different, and as someone said before, it's impossible to design one case to please everyone.

There's no full mid-plate, a quarter plate to support HHD's

Dude, Linus. We have to talk. I have learned to live with the whiny Canadian accent, but the multiple earrings per ear thing is getting a little out of hand.

So is there an official UK price yet and is the release date for the UK the same as US? Worldwide release?
