I've been looking at the SM8 for a couple of months now. Probably gonna go with it in the summer, but the 900D presents a solid alternative from what I've seen. The SM8 looks like it has around 15mm more vertical clearance than the 900D and less overall space for radiators in the bottom of the case. If you use any 480 down there it doesn't look like you can mount a psu in the bottom of the SM8. I just added the options for the SM8 (not that you'd always need to) and it comes to $489.95. Has George confirmed whether or not the 5.25" drive bays assembly is removable? Besides a 2 week span on my current build I haven't used an optical drive in ages and have no intention of doing so for my next build.

edit: so the 900D has 110mm up top? The SM8 has something like 115 right?

Stock u can add a 120mm top to the Sm8 so u can have 2 86mm 480 rads up there.
Bottom fits a 360 86mm rad and ther front fits a 360 80mm rad.
Then u can add this for 2 more 480mm rads.

Onlything u need there is the 15$ side window wink.gif

Sm8 is a black plain jane case same as the 900D so i do not know how u can come up with the comment?

The 900D is def more stylish imo.

And since when does a case have to fit 2 86mm Monsta rads to be worth $350 lol

You are clearly obsessed with Monsta rads and unlimited space so go build a TX10 with like 4 pedestals or something.

Yea I've seen the add on parts. I'll stick to the stock configuration for a while with whatever I choose.

Xigmatek Elysium: $199 - - stuffed two Monsta 360s and one Monsta 240 rads. You don't need an expensive nor a cheap case to fit the monstas. If they don't fit, bust out the dremel biggrin.giftongue.gifthumb.gif

Well Corsair, you may have my money on this one. I was seriously considering purchasing a CaseLabs M10, but the 900D has nearly everything that I want in a case, and the total cost is much less than the M10 that I configured.

M10 configured: $480
Fans (10xSP120, 1xAF140), and fan controller: $180
2x360mm rads: Still need to find the components I want
Total: $660

6 of the 10 SP120s were going to go on 2x360s, two for cooling my hdds, and the other two for some airflow on the left side of the case. The AF140 is the exhaust.

900D: $350 (you better price it at this)
Fans (6xSP120), and fan controller: $115
1x480 (top) and 1x240 (bottom left): Still need to find the components I want
Total: $465

The 6 SP120s were going to go on the 480 and the 240.

Of course, I don't have the components or money to make use of all of those radiators right now, but the 900D has the expansion that I want if I ever wanted to go that route (480: 4 gpu, 240: cpu) while having great air cooling performance if I don't. Just going by the size of the case and the fan layout, it should be one of the best air cooling cases out there. Going by the specs and looks of the case, the 900D looks like a combination of the TJ07, the 800D, and the Lian Li PC-A75 and then some.

With all of that said, the 900D is giving CaseLabs a good run for their money, after everything is configured. Although the 900D isn't Legos like the M8/M10/etc. it offers great watercooling customization and expansion without having double-wide dimensions. That's definitely not a con though. The M10 is pure sex.

I can see the M10 being a more future-proof investment than the 900D, mainly because the mind blowing customization possibilities with it, but that comes at a price. Take a look at OC3D's review on the M8. I was about to instabuy the M10 after watching the whole video and after thinking for like an hour of what I could do to that case, but I decided to wait to do some more research. Even with the future proof-ness of CaseLabs cases, the 900D still holds its own, and I can see that case lasting at least until the 1000D comes out. I'm still thinking about going CaseLabs, but Corsair has made a monster with this case. A monster named Godzilla thumb.gif

George, can you give some more info on the hotswap bays? I'm thinking that they're kind of like the Level 10 GT where you have a pcb on the back where the drives plug into, and the sata power/data ports on the other side of it. Or are they just modular so you can move them around to different areas?

They're molded pass-through style, and they're attached to the back of the cage so they can be moved wherever you'd like.

Lol try a cosmos 2 lol. 350 $ biggest rad it fits up top ad still being able to put the top cover on 30mm
However if u removed the psu from the case ad cut holes a 480 86 mm would fit I the bottom on it's side.
If cm made a better mount pos for the psu and had vents for the fans it would be an ok case .

I want to see if corsair gorge can get the 86 mm 480 in the top and bottom with 25mm fans mounted on them then the 900D would interest me.

The Cosmos is huge and so heavy so the quality is there but i 2 felt like they could have added more then what they did for $300 + no option for a clear window is ridiculous.

Now this is what you call a clear window -

I honestly think the cosmos ii was designed as an air cooling case first. For the price, i wouldn't touch it since I'm a hardcore water cooler. reduced, would make a good hacking project thumb.gif

The 900D is priced decent. If I were to go a new case for a nice loop (and mind you no quad gpu), I would pick up a Genesis. Especially since I can get an inverted mb and pull out mb tray. Newer gpu(s) are not hot beast anymore, so some medium thick rads would suffice (though you could stuff a Monsta in the bottom compartment and drive bays wink.gif).
