[MC/Corsair] Corsair 900D "Godzilla" unveiled - Page 175

Talking about quad 80 mm thick rads in one case is just a kidding and theoretical potential. Maybe useless potential biggrin.gif I personally would go with UT60 or RX series.

Ive never owned a case where the 8pin cpu power would reach without an extension lol so the 900D shouldn't be any different.

LOL we had this discussion for hours last night and i agree.

The only reason i would go with a Monsta rad is for the WOW factor but they are impressive rads.

Very true. I'm not knocking the Monsta radiator, but they are way overkill on the eP33n factor, and depending on who you talk to, an 80mm thick radiator really isn't as efficient as say 2 40mm radiators. Surface area and moving air away from the radiator as fast as possible will yield you the best result. So in reality, if I had the choice between 2 480's in "push/pull" that was 40mm thick or just 1 480 in "push/pull" that was 80mm thick (and CERTAINLY just "push" OR "pull"), I'd go with the 2 480's every day of the week and twice on Sunday. It's just that most cases don't have the room to mount 2 480's, but some do have the room to mount 1 480 that is 60mm or 80mm thick.

Since when does anyone have to have water cooling, anyway? It's all about how extreme you can go. wink.gif The less rad you have to use, the better, and Monstas and Black Ice GTXes fit the bill perfectly if they actually, you know, fit. Just make sure you have fans up to the task, not sissy GentleTyphoons or Noctuas, so you can run them at medium speeds and still get better heat dissipation than any other rad. tongue.gif

Magicool's and Feser's Monstas are the exact same rad internally (Magicool makes them, the others just have different exterior finishes), yet I've never heard any such performance issues associated with those. Inconsistent testing?

Totally agree, Corsair does deserve credit for delivering a case that can hold all that water cooling stuff, and some more, and $350 is a steal (yes there are cheaper cases out, and so are cheaper cars so lets no get into that anymore).

Now I just need to wait for the 3980X, and X79 The Dark to come out, and start a new build.

@ George - is the side panel window clear or does it have some tint to it?

I've been so focused on 480 rads I may have missed it, but does the case support 420mm rads top and bottom? Looks less expensive overall than 2 480s.

I saw on a Bitech a guy has a 360 Monsta top & a 240 Montsa on the bottom in a Switch 810. He was cooling a 2600K & one high end GPU

?

The point of the 86mm Monsta vs the more thin rads is simple...

You can get the same cooling results out of a 86mm Monsta with fans at 500rpm as a UT60 at 1200 rpm.

For the 20$ price difference that is huge in my book... im a fan of dead silence and it performing the very best it can.. There for i will only buy the very best rad for this and that is the 86mm Monsta the only rad to have for the guy looking for extreme performance and silence.

To make it very clear a fan that is over 15DBA is to loud for me.. I like my System as quiet as it is off while it is on...

From listening to the video, George did say either a 420 or a 480 can be mounted on the top or bottom.

sweet!

Been looking at XT45 rads and I saw they're ~$15 less expensive than the 480 version. Not to mention that if I go p/p I'll end up using 4 less fans. AND swiftech makes a 140mm version of the Helix fans I've come to like to much.

Kinda want to just order this stuff now. lol
