[MC/Corsair] Corsair 900D "Godzilla" unveiled - Page 39

By your definition, there's no reason to ever buy a new car, a new TV, etc. I mean, all a car does is move from place to place, and all a TV does is display content, so what's innovative about that?
My argument is that innovation is sometimes a combination of features that may have existed in other places, but never combined in a single place. For example - let's say that Toyota finds a way to get a full-size SUV up to 50mpg. That's not special, right? There are full sized SUVs on the market, and there are 50mpg cars on the market... but right now there are no full size SUVs that get 50mpg. So to me, that's a new product, and there's nothing like that on the market.
But in the end, it's your call. I know it's not for everyone. I know a lot of people will look at it and say "Wow, I can't believe anybody would buy something like that", but I also hope some of you guys look at it and say "Wow, finally, something worth buying that fits the features I want at the right price!"

eh , no . You are taking my point to the extreme lol

it is a new product , its a new item , another option etc . But it is NOT a "new" product lol and you know what i am talking about lol

u see what Silverstone did with the 90degree mobo rotation ... that could be consider "new" , and some say functional too . now how can someone innovate that? well instead of putting the I/O up , put it on the bottom position ... lol . Functional ? maybe not lol but innovative indeed lol

there is not much to "innovate" in a case . something groundbreaking that remakes the standard of a electronics component housing . it is what it is lol . I know you can get other materials to make the chasi but in the end its just a chasi . and Features are not innovations , like tool-less stuff and fan controllers , and the ability to put 100 120 fans in a case or hot swap HDDs

i dont know how to explain it , maybe its the language ( english is not my main language)

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. That unless we rotate the motherboard we're not innovating?

I just disagree with you on what innovation is. I think making a case easier to build, or easier to upgrade, is an important innovation. I think cable routing was an innovation with the 800D - and apparently every other case manufacturer agrees since they've duplicated it.

I don't think innovation has levels - it's not either innovative or it's not. I think some things are more innovative than others but that doesn't mean that innovation isn't incremental. You can take small steps to make things better and still end up in a great place.

Right on the money.
I can't wait for this case, something to consider other than the aged (but still magnificent) TJ07.

As someone who sold their Cosmos II today because they didn't like the looks, I cannot wait for a new Corsair Obsidian case. I bought the 700D pretty early on and used it for years, won a couple of competitions with it too. I must say I miss my 700D and wish I had never given it to a friend.

When the 800D was released it was pretty ground breaking. George, take your time, I can wait, my system just has to run on a motherboard box for a while!

The silverstone thing was an example of innovation . something new ... dont derail the conversation lol

Dont get me wrong , i got my 800D , disassemble and ready to sand it and paint . i like Corsair cases

What im trying to say is , what more can Corsair innovate , innovate THAT huge that will impact the DIY computer market and would make another (if they had done any) standard in the market ?

That was the reason of my post about innovation and "new" stuff . This new "case" u said "there is nothing like this on the market. We're not trying to duplicate anybody else's product". , and i said : "what can you offer nobody can? . its all ready being done" . I brought the Silverstone example of the last BIG innovation in computer cases

Im not bashing you or fighting or anything like that ... im just trying to see if i can get new info of this "new" case lol u already revealed "So the Case Labs, Mountain Mods, and Little Devil guys can rest assured their products will remain unique. The Cosmos II, TJ11 or Level 10 guys can also rest assured we're not trying to make a Corsair version of those cases"

and the more important "There is a successor to the 800D" so it wont be a HTPC lol . it will be a direct competitor for the CosmosII TJ11 (and i dont know why u mentioned it) Level 10 . if u say otherwise , you are telling a lie LOL (asuming the 800D is the flagship high end case AND assuming that high end is caterd to the WC guys)

i didnt put in competition the CL MM and LD cases because those are marginally obscure cases that only the Enthusiast would consider buy , and they dont have the power to mass market like the big companies . Only those who knows they exist would "consider"them an option for watercooling (i know they are expensive but its another option when buying a high end case)

How are we going to innovate? I'm not about to spill the beans on that until it's done.
