Think about it a little differently.

If Corsair has a beta test program, what would the benefit to us be?

Feedback on new features and products before launch.

If we were shipping products to people who could give meaningful feedback, we'd want that to be from an informed customer.

I've never owned anything but a truck. I always have driven either a truck or an SUV. If Ferrari came to me tomorrow and asked me to beta test a new Ferrari, I'd suck at it. I couldn't compare it to its competition, I couldn't tell you how I like it compared to other Ferraris, etc.

But if GMC or Ford came by and said they want me to beta test a new SUV or something, I'd be able to give a lot of meaningful feedback based on my experience with other similar vehicles.

You beta test for a purpose - and unfortunately, one of those purposes is not necessarily so that the end-user will appreciate it.

You offer something in return, maybe it's free product or the right to go to press first or something, but the beta tester being really appreciative about receiving the thing works against the premise of a beta test program, actually. You're less likely to get honest, useful feedback from somebody who's totally stoked you noticed them in the first place.

It'd be like if Bill Murray cooked me pancakes. Of course the pancakes were good, Bill Murray made them! I wouldn't even be able to tell you the flavor. They could be made of aquarium gravel and glue, and I'd still be smiling the whole time.

I waited for this case as long as I could. Sadly, still no release date. Will it even be this year?
I currently own 3 Corsair 800D cases (2 modded and 1 stock still in the box). I am interested in the 900D to see if it can fulfill my requirements for a case that can hold large radiators (4x120mm) without too much modding.

I am thinking of creating another case mod for QuakeCon 2013 and the 900D would be a fantastic case to work with. I have the full range of Corsair products (Vengeance 2000 headset, 800D cases, Vengeance memory, K90 keyboard, M90 mouse, Force GT SSD, AX1200 Modular PSU, H100 CPU Cooler) and love the quality and durability of their products.

Beta testing would be beneficial from a company's standpoint to gain feedback on customer requirements being met and quality control measures being fulfilled. An impartial (unbiased) standpoint is relevant and necessary for the engineers and quality control personnel to know that what they have created is meeting the needs of the targeted customer market.

I hope that the beta program is implemented and I look forward to the next generation of Corsair full-size Vengeance cases!

I agree that you should give test products to competent reviewers, I was simply arguing just because a case costs a ton of money doesn't make it good. a 60 dollar case and the 800d perform just as well as one another to someone air cooling wink.gif

The difference being....I am not going to smile at you or even be remotely excited if you make a 900D from plastic, paperclips and ideas that were thought up following a 72 hour bender + Bill Murray marathon.

Fair Enough, and I appreciate your taking the time to write out an honest, well thought-out, and respectful reply CorsairGeorge.

I admit that this is a topic that I get a bit "heated" about, and while I tried not to let that "slip" into my post, I suppose it can be kinda hard to mask. To be fair, my frustrations do not lie only with Corsair, but rather with a number of the now-big companies that started out as extremely-customer-focused and, as increased revenue streams have been known to cause, gradually became more and more of a faceless business. However, I admit that you have, to whatever small degree (?), actually somewhat changed my perception based on the reply you posted, so well done.

Now, I still think that the Dominator kits are overpriced, but I suppose that's always going to be the case with a company's "halo" product, which also explains the very high cost of entry for the AX1200, and so forth. Just to be sure that I wasn't over-exaggerating, I looked quickly through Newegg at pricing on RAM kits... While the Dominator lines are indeed the most expensive in their class, and while other kits from other manufacturers HAVE shown better performance in many reviews/benchmarks; you guys are not the only ones putting such a hefty price-tag on your "top shelf" RAM, so I apologize for accusing without doing more recent research.

When it comes down to it, I think that this mirrors the "battle" between "small local vs big corporate" business, and by the way "Corsair Holdings LLC" or whatever I said was a joke (exaggeration? to make a point)... I simply prefer to give money to companies that have more of a "local business" feel, the ones that don't put me on hold for an hour or direct my call overseas or treat me like an idiot when I have a tech support problem. Now, I don't know how your tech support is, as I have honestly never had a Corsair product go bad (like I said, 9 years and my first pair of XMS3200RE are still going 100% with a decent overclock!), but I also know that with a company like NZXT for instance, they not only have multiple forum reps here, but both reps are active members of the community in every way with their NZXT jobs seemingly being no more or less important than their being a member.

I am not "flaming" you OR your company, this is just feedback from a consumer. It is not a rant, it's not hateful nor spiteful. It is simply observations, from someone who is not a "fanboy" of anything wink.gif

Thank you, seriously, for taking the time to respond to my post and to do so in a professional manner. It really is appreciated smile.gif

Take care, and best of luck with your upcoming case release. I honestly do hope it is everything that it is hyped to be!

There's always a delicate balance between expanding your business and staying true to your roots.

But if a business isn't growing, it's effectively dying. I'm glad we can expand into new areas and do new things. It's fun to get to see how all these things work.

At this point you can build a Corsair PC with everything but the CPU, motherboard, and video card. Well, and the monitor.

But maybe that'll be next? Corsair Monitors. Lot of science there. We'd need reviewers able to test them, otherwise building a superior monitor would get very little attention.

I can't stand 1920x1080 though. I think we'd skip it and go right to 4k resolution stuff. smile.gif

NOTE: that's a joke, we don't have any plans to do monitors.

...yet.

I'd sooner see corsair motherboards. However do you guys have HDDs yet? SSDs are not a substitute for mass storage yet mate smile.gif.
