[MC/Corsair] Corsair 900D "Godzilla" unveiled - Page 52

I would actually really support a new touchscreen monitor option... I think that a touchscreen with a decent response time that is a bit more slim lined would be a big hit... The mas market would like it because the touchscreen is gimmicky and prity popular ATM, and the enthusiasts would love it for new projects... If there were slimline touchscreen monitors I would order probably 2 or 3 to make a desk... That said they would 100% need to have the screen flush with the bezel smile.gif

Sorry if it's been asked already but is this a replacement to the 800d or simply the next model up?

800D has plenty of air flow.

What you on about, a lot of reviews claim it to have an average air flow, if not worse, since it is targeted at water cooling.

especially compaired to its prime competitor (HAF X) which still has some of the best air flow out of any case ever made

I'm not going to flame you, I'm only going to disagree with you. I've been here more than 8 years now, working on #9. No intention of going anywhere. My first job was binning memory for DDR1, 275 MHz parts. Samsung TCCD ICs. I've worked on a lot of different projects since then. Right now I'm the case and cooling PM.
I understand where you're coming from. Not every one of our products is a resounding success. Nobody's got that track record. Everyone ends up with something half-assed now and then, but at Corsair it's not for lack of effort.
You claim we don't innovate - but sometimes those failures have come during the attempt at true innovation. The Corsair Link stuff is getting better and better, and right now you don't need to buy anything else to get it to work with an H100i or an AX860i. Nobody else in the industry is attempting to do anything like that, outside of motherboard vendors, and few of them make much more than motherboards and video cards for enthusiasts.
The Dominator Platinum looks fantastic, and it works exceptionally well. The Vengeance stuff isn't designed to be the world's fastest overclocking memory. Our keyboards are unique in design and function extraordinarily well. Our mice, specifically the M60, since that's the one I use, are uniquely designed as well. Each case is new from the ground up, offering a unique blend of ID and performance features, all our coolers' success stories speak for themselves. The fans we launched this year have proved themselves among the best in a crowded market. Our SSDs are now using controllers and PCB designs that are not available in the general market, even our USB drives are unique and offer some innovation in a market crowded with me-too products.
So I'm not going to flame you, I just disagree with you.
But that's the beauty of this whole game - you don't have to agree with me, you can vote with your dollars. Just like everybody else. As our products enter new markets, and grow market share in existing markets based on new products and innovative features that some people care deeply for, we prove our worth, I think.
There is no "Corsair Media Holdings LLC" or whatever. Just Corsair. We still do the world's most reliable memory and power supplies. We still do innovation in every category we're in, and while we aren't perfect, we're better across the board than most of our competitors. We win some and lose some, here and there, like anybody else. But we're obviously winning a lot more than we lose, and from every loss, we learn a lot about how to do better next time.
As for beta testing the rumored 900D, what makes you think we aren't already doing that? What makes you think we haven't been doing that for months already?

Well put...

This thing is very, very complex.

Respect.

I am an equal opportunity ccompany basher, so whilethere are plenty of things that I dislike about Corsair, I will admit that there are a lot oftthings that you guys do right. I just get so sick of seeing the same thing time and again. I just want innovation, not repetition. That is what I will spend my money on. I will not allow some company to make my decisions for me, but this country has a few too many people who will. I just hope that companies as large as Corsair realize this and don't take advantage of people's blind trust in a name. I don't meanany offense to any person by this, I am just trying tobbetter state my position.

This thing is very, very complex.

Complex is both good and bad, however being complex, I am glad to hear that you guys are not just slamming out a case like a few companies did (CM Storm Trooper did, and radiators will not fit on top unless you have no motherboard...laugh). The only thing I can say is, it sure dam well be able to fit a H100 with a push pull fan setup on top without infringing on the mobo top heatsinks...and hopefully a 280mm radiator as well...although I know you guys don't make one. Also, I hope that the hard drive area has a full backplane (at least for the power) so we don't have to either custom make sata power cables or fold them and risk breaking the port on the HD or the PSU cable end...TT Level 10 GT did that part right...it just is so ugly lol.

I do however have 1 question for you....why is every fan you make so damn noisy on the bearings? No offence, but I got some SP120's because of your Static Pressure rating and CFM, and my GELID Wing LED fans run the H100 cooler by 5 degrees Celsius (idle) and up to 10 degrees on load cooler at 1600RMP and a lower SP rating than yours do at 2000RMP, and literally 30% the noise those crappers make at the same RPM level (no exaggeration on the noise). They are sitting in a box on my floor, and will stay there until some poor bastard needs free fans.

The HAF X came out over a year after the 800D and was designed as a high airflow aircooling chassis. It's also going after a very different demographic aesthetically. The 800D is more like the ATCS 840, really. Though I don't think they make that anymore.
