[MC/Corsair] Corsair 900D "Godzilla" unveiled - Page 68

I may be jumping on the NZXT Phantom 820 boat as well soon if I don't know a release date. This, when it's ready attitude, is great that Corsair doesn't want to release a sub-standard product, but I am getting to a point where I need a case now. I love Corsair so much and I really want to support them and own their top of the line case, but as I said 'it's just getting to a point where I need a case now.'

Lots of new builds will be Jan-March. Tax time & Corsair will release the 900D then. New cards come out from both sides @ this time also. Just so happen a new Intel socket is coming out March-June also. No later than March I expect. More so Febuary, cause it will be @ CES...

All the mystery is great, but I can't wait for a case that has great specs but has no evidence that is will work for our companies setups due to secret information and layout specs, especially when your competition gave info on theirs long before it came out, and now it is. Even a rough ETA would have done for most customers, but this is getting to the point where many of us are wondering if the reason it is taking so long is because of complications and manufacturing issues. Kinda like how SATA power connectors on most of your PSU's snap with ease. Literally the only PSU to ever have that happen on brand new ones. That is usually something that comes with brittle plastic after being subjected to excessive heat or exposure to UV radiation. 4 supplies from you to have SATA power connector plastic snap from just the weight of the wire itself, no pressure. 0 from NZXT, and Seasonic (even though it is know you use them on some stuff), and heck even Cooler Master PSU's.

Amen to that!

Yeah, I feel you. I might get a Switch 810 instead, costs considerably less and best of all I can have it now and be done with the switching before 2013 or the 21st of December. lol

Same.

I was really excited about this case months ago (early on in this thread), but I honestly got tired of all the "smoke and mirrors" baiting. I picked up 2 Switch 810's (one in White and one in Gun Metal Gray) and have made/in the process of making 2 killer computer systems ... one for a water cooled TC folding rig, and the other for an obscenely water cooled main/gaming/folding rig).

A Switch 810 and a Dwood Switch Pedestal base is most likely going to cost what this costs, is available now, and has more water cooling capacity that the 900D.

I honestly tried to wait, but the Build Log Bug was just too strong and the information from Corsair was just too slow in coming.

Sorry Corsair, you might want to seriously consider "spilling the beans" and coming out with an MSRP, and release date at the very least.

Maybe, maybe not. All CES means is when they will reveal it. It doesn't mean that at CES they will show it and have 10,000 units sitting on their dock just waiting to hit Neweggs warehouse. Our company has been manufacturing new products for the television industry for 40 years now, we go to the National Association of Broadcasters show every year (I've been to the past 22) in April, and all NAB means is we SHOW the new stuff (same as everyone else) and get people psyched about it. Usually we (and everyone else too, from Sony to Panasonic, to Harris, to you name it) still won't deliver until June or later.

Good thing i already have a 800D and don't mind waiting forever for this case lol.

If if any 1 is waiting and really needs there build asap then just buy a dirt cheap mid tower until the 900D comes out.

I didn't say they were going to sell it @ CES. I'm simply saying that they'll have this case on shelves shortly after CES & around the time all the money will be spent. AMD & Nvidia do card launches primarily around this time now cause of the amount of money being spent around this time. I don't believe for one minute that a case that will be slated between $329-$379 will be launched after everybody will be spending money like crazy. Corsair is one of the best companies in the business. They've taken Seasonics PSU's, rebranded them & they outsell them 5 to 1. You have 68 pages about a case that people have only seen the bottom front feet, Corsair logo, & partially the top of. The reason being is, we all know the quality will be 2nd to none & more than likely it will be a beautiful case. I own a 650D & I love it. I own a IN Win Dragon Rider (White) & it's in the garage. I will have a new build of some sort rather it's IVY Bridge or Sandy Bridge-E cause I already have both CPU's sitting here @ home & more than likely it will be in the 900D. I am simply waiting till new cards come out.

I was/am also waiting on the 900D but it has been months now and still no ETA. I think if there is no ETA by the start of 2013 then I will go ahead and buy another case. Perhaps Switch 810 and spend more money on watercooling rolleyes.gif

My other 2 options for my file server case are my original Cosmos 1000, which has terrible airflow (not to mention HDD temps) and it probably won't hold all my drives. The other option is an older Stacker, which is what I'm currently using; It has plenty of room/air flow for the drives but has NOOO wire management whatsoever. I also want to run a CPU loop, and the Stacker has no good options to mount a radiator.
Currently I have about 13-14TB total split up between 10-12 or so drives... Holding a lot of drives is really about the only thing I think the Cosmos II excels at TBPH. I'll list my personal Cosmos II gripes and I can hope someone from Corsair reads them :coughGeorgecough: Maybe he'll even decide to send me a 900D to review thumb.gif (if not a 900D, a white 600T would work too) wink.gif
Chainesaw's list of things the Cosmos II failed at that I hope the 900D will address:
1). Not enough 5.25 bays - It really needs one more IMO. (it only has 3) I originally was running a double 5.25 bay reservoir, which left me with only one bay, and since their built-in fan controller is TERRIBLE, I ended up having to run an aftermarket 5.25 controller. That leaves me with 0 bays. My only choices were to either have my BluRay burner sit in a drawer, or swap out the reservoir and go to a cylinder style (which is what I did)
They could have fixed this issue one way or the other, either by adding a 4th bay, or designed a better fan controller that wasn't terrible. I would have been happy with either, though I think a 4th bay would be the better option.
2). The hot swap bay - It is a really cool feature, but they made it an odd-ball size. WHY.WHY.WHY??!!?? Had they made it the standard size as a double bay, I could have removed it entirely, and gained 2 more 5.25 bays, (That would have also resolved my first complaint.) But instead, it's not quite a double 5.25 - So if you take it out, you'll gain 1 bay, and be left with another odd ball sized empty space that you won't be able to do anything with. When you realize there's nothing you can really do with it, and how terrible it looks, you end up putting the hot swap bays back in.... rolleyes.gif
ALSO, had they made it a standard size, I could have moved it anywhere I wanted it in the bays. I really REALLY don't understand their decision on this one at all.
3). The top radiator - Whiskey.Tango.Foxtrot.. There is so much vertical space in this case, the fact that it will only hold a thin rad is absolutely ridiculous. I mean seriously Coolermaster, what were you thinking?? They could have EASILY fit a full size rad and probably still have room for push/pull. This was one of the "features" that sold me on the case - "Native 360 radiator support" but I didn't know they designed it to only fit gimped-ass half thick rads. Again, another poor design decision they made that's just stupid.
4). STILL NO WINDOW. Really CoolerMaster? I'm trying really hard to GIVE YOU MY MONEY - Why do you refuse?? The Cosmos II is their "Flagship" case and arguably the most expensive "mainstream" case you can buy at $350. Not only does it not come with a window, you don't even OFFER a window. There was an official thread asking about possible options and "would you buy this" kind of informal poll.. That thread is damn near a YEAR OLD now. No updates, no info, NOTHING. I contacted their "Live Chat" last week to ask about it, and was told "There are no plans to offer a window for your case at this time" - Are you fcking serious CoolerMaster?
I've been DYING to grab a White 600T for a long time now and use that as my media server case, but now that the 900D is on the horizon, I can't quite justify/commit to the 600T knowing I will most likely be getting a 900D as soon as it's released (providing it can address at least 2/3 of my issues with my Cosmos II - which I think it will) Looking forward to some sneak-peeks at it George! Post 'em!

still the best case i've had by far....4 rads, dual xeon board compatibility,7hdd's out of the box with no mod needed....what more could you want? i wouldn't bet against it in a matchup against 900d...also style-wise those curves will always beat handsdown the industrial "flat lines"look
post #680 of 5815
I could not wait any longer for this case so I had to get the phantom 820.... but if this case delivers then I'll pick it up for the next build.
