Another “lightning” from MSI combines all the goodness you can only imagine. Our today’s review will talk about this great product in detail and reveal its performance in all contemporary games including the new title – Sleeping Dogs.
Quote:
The unique 12-phase power system incorporates gold-plated solid state chokes, CopperMOS transistors, Dark Solid capacitors and tantalum-core Hi-c capacitors.

Each power phase has a dedicated indicator based on blue LEDs. It can be seen on the reverse side of the PCB. The gold-plated chokes are especially impressive.

Besides the marketing effect, the Golden SSCs ensure stable voltages and overcurrent protection at high loads. The N680GTX Lightning also features a special Lightning Power Layer PCB that helps reduce interference and increase stability at overclocking. All of this is referred to as Unlocked Digital Power.

The GPU Reactor module on the reverse side of the PCB is expected to ensure even more stability in overclocked mode (up to 200% more).

So the HD 7970 beats the hell out of it half the time and then they still call it the fastest single GPU you can buy? rolleyes.gif

I guess they meant to say, another card in the lightning series and not another GTX 680 lightning.

What is the difference from this lightning 680 to the other lightning 680 or this is the only lightning 680 that already come out and been reviewed?

Needs 4Gb VRAM..... Also..

zpw-xbt.png

200Mhz extra core speed on the 7970 GE only adds 23w to the power consumption, but 240Mhz extra on the GTX 680 adds 63w to the power consumption, very poor scaling!

It's also a good review as it's 7970 at 1250 vs GTX 680 at 1245, near enough clock-for-clock....

Same results as always, with no or little AA enabled the GTX 680 is faster or as fast a 7970, turn the AA up or on though the 7970 pulls ahead, out of curiosity does anyone buy these monster cards to run low amounts of AA?
