quick vid card question..

Thread Starter
how does 512-bit on a 1gb gddr3 differ from 1920bit on 1gb gddr5?

i assume the gddr5 is faster, but how does different bit numbers effect it? also how do mem clock speeds change things

If we're talking about the same GPU, then the slower, bigger memory bus would yield faster performance at high resolution with all the eye candy cranked to the max (AA, AF..etc)

However, an older GPU (like your 285) would not benefit from faster memory or a bigger bus due to its slow GPU clock and low shader count.

Don't get me wrong, the 200 series has better performance-per-shader than the 500 or the new 600 series....it just doesn't have enough of them...
