I don't feel bad. HP designs some of the worst desktops and laptops in the industry. I'm tired of working on them for customers.
Tell your customers to get the good hp laptops then, newbie lol tongue.gif

HP and Dell can blame tablets for their problems all they want. Reality is people are wising up and seeing how much their stuff is junk. Every single person I know that bought an HP laptop, threw it in the closet because the motherboard died and HP won't fix it. Dells desktops? Do I need to so anything more?

???????? tell that to my dv7-6187cl and dv6 laptops I own....

It's amazing how ignorant people are on hp's new line of computers from 2011 to current. They are vastly superior in price and performance on the market compared to any other company in its price range.

acer the only company that comes close to price and performance, and they have MUCH lower build quality.

toshiba gives you trash specs/okish build quality, and dell is crap in general, lenovo gives you decent build quality but poor specs, sony is over priced garbage, samsung is excellent build quality but you're paying way too much for the specs they offer. SO YA ENOUGH SAID.

OHH wait I forgot to mention asus would be the only other company that competes well neck and neck with hp, maybe even a little bit better in terms of build quality and specs smile.gif

ASUS and HP ftw... pz.

I wish they'd sell their VoodooPC division to a company that actually knows what it's doing, so the company that invented the Ultrabook (ok, that was Intel, but Voodoo made it a reality) can stop making chunky Macbook clones with barfBeats and go back to making amazing devices.

More of this:

i bought 2 Elitebooks ("Professional" grade) last year for my users. One user returned it for a macbook air, the other user hates it but kept it. In fact it had to go back to our vendor for service about a month in. Due to problems with sleep and wifi being broken upon wake. New motherboard i believe fixed it (on a ~1-2 month old computer, mind you)

Their desktops dont seem to play nice with Dragon Naturally Speaking either. Most likely interference coming from the on board audio chipset.

HP is meh in my book.

Our new recommendation is Lenovo. I bought 2 X230s and they seem like decent machines but their trackpads are terrible--as in almost unusable. Track point, ftw.

You're quite adorable. I almost want to pet you. You go ahead and keep telling people to buy HP's. The more computer work I get the better. You come off as all knowing but unfortunately, you're just biased. Telling a customer I'm responsible for to buy another HP to replace their HP that just died would make me such an awesome person. Acer was garbage back a few years ago until the CEO turned the company around. I have a gaming Acer and hasn't went down on me once, neither have the handful of other people I know who have one granted I only recomend them to people who know what their doing since you have to reformat the HD and start fresh. Lenovo is where everyone gets pointed to.

This is the post with the most sense I have seen in this thread.

I worked for HP and it's a great company. It was and will always be one of my top 5 companies to work for. However, given the fact that the service sector sucks, I think that they are better off being a hardware company which they are better. Also, the acquisitions is what has ultimately killed them. They bought Palm and now where is Palm? I know that HP earns TONS of money through their enterprise services arm (which I was part of) compared to their PSG/Imaging systems part which was once their forte. They are also pushing for the cloud computing services which is nice since that's the future. ph34r-smiley.gif (signing out before they identify me)

Sorry to see the job losses, but I still despise HP/Compaq. And it also kills a little bit of the Beats name as well. It nearly breaks my heart to see people poor $200-300 on such overpriced headphones all around campus.

My experiences with HP are also terrible. A desktop PC that would break (broken mobo) each year, second time it broke was just out of warranty. 2 printers that both died within 3 years (and with way too expensive ink of course).
