Hello! i just installed my new system. Is a Gigabyte G1 Sniper 2 with 3770K ivy and 2400Mhz DDR3 G. Skill Trident X.

But, im trying to overclock this processor, and y have only 39x multiplier. Is normal? is there any beta bios with better performance?

Hey man,

So you're upping your multi but are you increasing your Vcore? Ivy doesn't overclock as well as sandy does but I've seen most people getting around 4.6.

We're going to need more details on your current config.

With or without vcore, the multiplier range is from 17x to 39x (is Ivy, not Sandy) but, i cant set for example "x46" because not exist in my motherboard. I think that there is a problem with Ivy Bridges on Z68 mobos,...

Oh I see what you mean now, as in the fuctionality isn't there, It could be as simple as a BIOS update. I'd try that, if it still doesn't give you the extra multipliers then i'm not sure, it could be a limitation.

yes GB is working on getting UEFI to their Z68 boards. You can check on tweaktown forums for some test BIOSes with multiplier control.

With Sandy Bridge the cpu clock gen was int he PCH, with Ivy bridge it is in the CPU, and thus requires UEFI to change the multiplier.

You'll gave to wait for some i guess. Shouldn't be long though.

But the 3770K is fast enough! So i'm sure you can hold up.

In english... hehe

I found a new bios from offical gigabyte fourm. Goes from award to uefi and it supports very well al ivy overclock. You must create a usb with ms-dos (hpformat tool), copy the file there and follow instructions. Takes a few minutes.... When finish, it says that you must shut down the system and unplug the psu cable.... wait at least 30 secs and plug it,... then switch on and wait again a few minutes...

Regards!

oh! the file:
