How bad are blue keys for FPS gaming?

Thread Starter
I got some super dooper exam results and so some cash is hopefully winging its way to me.

I tried out the Razer BlackWidow and I quite like it, but I am the type of FPS gamer (okay, maybe all FPS gamers do this) that inches forwards and backwards and left and right with the WASD keys a lot of the time. As I could only type a few strings of text in a busy shopping centre I couldn't exactly practice with an FPS game, so just how bad is this issue?

My ideal keyboard would be the BlackWidow Silent since I heard it fixes standard issues (though the 2013 edition is improved, I think?) however it's in a US layout and I'm from the UK...

Or can you guys suggest any other gaming-centric keyboards with Blue or Brown switches that I can get in the UK? Thanks.

The problem with blue switches is that when you double tap a key, sometimes it doesn't register.
I've had problems because of that, so I got browns. Other than that there are no problems

I play fps and mmo and love my blue switches. Only thing is that the girlfriend always jokes about how loud it is.

I can't commend on a brand since I own a otaku Filco tenkeyless, but I do miss having a number pad and wished it had backlit keys.

To evaluate on this, the "actuation" point and the "reset" point on the switch are not in the same place. This means that when you press the key and it clicks (registering the button press), it does not reset until it passes a certain point on the upstroke. This point is not in the exact same spot as where it clicked so there is a very small travel distance where if you reactuate the button, it will not register the second keypress because it has not reset yet.

This travel distance is small and inconsequential for most users. Many gaming keyboards use Blues and they're a great switch if you don't mind the noise.

Yeah I don't like blacks, tried a Steelseries keyboard and I felt they were too tough. I do a lot of typing so yeah. I also tried some Cherry Reds and woooow I think it'd take a single feather to actuate them!

It doesn't have to be a Razer BlackWidow but I'ma sucker for gaming peripherals that look the part, I don't really feel safe or happy with getting for example a Ducky keyboard that a) looks plain and b) has a weird name and has a billion versions.

I'm considering the CM Storm keyboards too but they're a nightmare to get in the right type of key across the 3 models they do.

Well it really depends on what kind of keys u prefer and how ull be using the keyboard. If uve been using a rubber-dome keyboard before the Blues will feel so nice (Ive tested the BW too) XD. People generally consider the Blue to be more of a typing switch since they have a little less actuation force than your average joe keyboard. But it really shoudnt matter since it all comes down to personal preference of the switch

I use a Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. This keyboard has blues. Blue keys are generally good for both typing and gaming. I love them for my left 4 dead 2 and college essays. Realism Expert left 4 dead 2 player here and in college for Information Technology with a Focus in Programming.
