I apologize in advance for a silly question, but I feel it isn't silly enough.

My school has a dreamspark account, which I am pretty sure is "controlled" by the IS&T department (academic and structural, we have essentially both.) I am a grad student but I am no way affiliated with the departments that I believe have dreamspark access.

However, my research in GIS (remote sensing) based and thus I could not run the necessary software without an OS. If you have a better rationale, let me know, but I do seriously do computer intensive research for a degree in biology.

Would I be way off base trying to gain access to dreamspark? I do mean by e-mailing/calling the individuals certified to divulge the information I need. All legit.

Yeah, all updates since it's the full thing. I got WIn 7 from MSDNAA three years ago when it first came out. Been using it ever since and got all the updates.

Get an external hard drive download everything and create an excel file with your keys.

No, might as well try. But they may say you need to be doing courses that may require access to MSDNAA/Dreamspark

Does anyone have another link where I can download Win 8 64 bit RTM? I have tried 5 times and every time it says there is an error while trying to unpack the file. Or does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Does this allow you to own a 32bit and 64 bit or can you only download one?

doesnt hurt to try but in my case I am given the opportunity to premium access because of my courses, ie Microsoft administration courses.

asking def doesnt hurt though.

You get a key for each. so you get two versions but the keys can be used for either 32bit or 64bit
