Why do you think your case even has air flow? just to look cool?

I think I worded that wrong or u misunderstood. I meant im going to probably have to remove 120mm case fans to fit the thing.

So I will just have a wall in the center of the case and no airflow.

I guess that's pretty good though, especially being summer and all.
I forgot my chip is old and makes a crapload of heat, doesn't matter now though because I'm upgrading to a 2500k in a few days wink.gif
I'm gonna lap the hyper212+ before putting it on my 2500k though, I'm curious to see what sort of temps I get.

Might wanna be careful with that lapping there bud, the walls of the heatpipes are thin that you could ruin the cooler.

It won't, as long as you have air intake fans and exhaust fans on your case it will be fine.
Just make sure the airflow of the hyper212+ is directed at an exhaust fan.

The airflow of your case will flow through the fins of the heatsink...taking the hot air with it.

Cooler Master TX3 has slightly smaller height, when coupled w/two fans PWM style is quiet & capable.
I kept a PHII 965BE cool(mildly OC'd to 3.8)33-36 idle, about 45-48 c under normal use-benches would push to 60-63 as I recall.

Vortex Plus also work for same-lower profile-better VRM cooling.

What processor? What board for next build? What case?
All 3 have a lot to do with any reasonable recommendation.
I have moved on to h80/h100 & full w/c since-Can't beat for space saving & quiet.
Good luck,happy shopping.

No arguing they r good. They have very good reviews.

Good sir, no, the heatsink has fins, fins where air is passing thru, where the fan attached is pull air in and pushing it thru the heatsink and out the case.
