amd build problems, I'm stumped

alright guys, I need to find the source of this problem.

Built a new system, amd 3670k and GIGABYTE GA-A55M-DS2 FM1.

I put the thing together, had it working for a week or so and then i couldnt get it to display a picture. I put in my old 3870 ati graphics card and i got a picture then. By the advice of some member on this forum, I rma'd the processor and got a new one, figuring the apu went bad.

Get new processor, put everything together, same thing happens. Put in my 3870 and go to bios options and then under display or something there are 3 options. I think one was pcie, one was integrated, and one was some other have no idea what the hell the problem is.

any help?

thanks in advance

Try removing the 3870 and using integrated. That's what it's designed for and the onboard is likely more powerful anyway. Try that and report back.

okay, update

went to fire up the computer today and everything works fine.

What would cause the computer to randomly not display a picture, and then work fine the next day? I am truly stumped
and yes, everything is the same today as it was yesterday

What truckerguy said or maybe a slight chance of bad ram.

wouldn't those things that you mentioned cause the problem to happen much more frequently?

The problem also seems to occur (not 100% sure) after the system goes to sleep.

I've had issues with my low level ram timings causing sleep to not reboot properly. Ie, the ones below the typical x-x-x-xx timings in the mem area. So that sounds like a mem issue.
You have run memtest of a sort to test your mem? Whats the mem set to? the rated timings/volts?

problems with a short or a psu will be very random at frist depending on amount of heat. and when you put your rig in sleep mode your psu is still on and holding heat. This is why from a cold start you have less problems

Take the system out of the case and test it from there; also monitor your temps closely. Was it really hot out the days when it would work and is it significantly cooler today? Might be a fan is not working properly or not seated right.
