Overclock performance question.

Thread Starter
I am not sure if this is a real issue, but someone mentioned to me that the motherboard needs to be overclocked in order for CPU (maybe GPU as well?) overclocks to be fully recognized and utilizable.

I have overclocked my intel i7 930 to 4.0GHz, and my ram to relatively 1600MHz. My GPU is also slightly overclocked.
However I do not believe i have overclocked the motherboard.

Is it true that i need to modify/overclock the motherboard in some way for the other overclocks, such as the CPU, to be fully utilizable?

Not sure where you heard that from but have you seen guides about overclocking motherboards? I think not. Should be fine if you just overclock the component you want.
