Yes, I was speaking in a general sense.

However, you can't seriously be comparing Ninja Gaiden's depth with a sim like DCS A-10 can you? Have you ever tried one of those sims? It's not even right to call them a game. I LOVE Ninja Gaiden, I always have. Great games; but that's a puddle and an ocean of difference in depth.

@BizzareRide

and no, I'm quite comfortable calling the DCS series or Harpoon series or The Operational Art of War series or Steel Beast Pro Ed and a myriad of other titles a far more complex and deeper game experience then anything consoles have to offer.

That doesn't mean better. Just more involved.

And since you don't have a complete catalog of my interests, I'm certain you aren't qualified to make "brash" comments about what I've played and haven't played.

I think that part everyone missed was, I own all the consoles and I enjoy them.

Nobody has a problem with consoles, people just have a problem with consoles getting the main attention and it affecting the gaming community in a negative way.

The problem is, in the last decade or so, some console makers started making their consoles do jobs that are similar to those of a PC. The thing is, these similar-to-PC jobs are typically done better on a, guess what, PC.
So I'd say a better analogy would be:
Classic console: screwdriver
PC: swiss army knife
Modern console: screwdriver welded onto a swiss army knife

No sure you quite understand what a console is.

I love both PC and console games. I mean, I need my PC for Crysis, BFBC2, and BF3 goodness but then I need my PS3 for GT5 and my Wii for Zelda SS. thumb.gif

When sega got out of the console business they started to release sega games on PC and other consoles

If Nintendo or sony get out of consoles, I'm pretty sure that they will release their exclusive to other platforms.

As a pc gamers I really hope that all consoles die so we can get more games on PC

Why? Consoles bring games to the masses for cheap. If everything went to PC's, that mean cash strapped people would have to go buy better video cards, upgrade the ram and cpu, sit in front of a computer monitor....

Nope, not going to happen. Consoles are a unique market, and are here to stay.

niche?

Console gaming is much larger than PC gaming if anything PC serves the niche.

You can't find Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, the old Sonics, Mario 64, Shenmue or Super Metroid on PC, as you couldn't play Monkey Island, X-Wing VS TIE Fighter or the true version of Deus Ex on consoles, a true gamer try to own and appreciate both.

Alot of PC gamers did experience console gaming in it's prime. Thats precisely why you see the attitude towards modern day consoles.

All they've done is stifle the industry and slown down PC game development. Next gen will still be lagging behind PC hardware and will further do the same thing.

At least in the "golden age" consoles were pretty well separated from PC's, and multi-platform games weren't the norm - they actually worked, too, without any "red rings of death", CD drive's scratching the discs or other hardware failures. Modern day consoles arn't consoles, they're media hubs, and they can't do nothing my PC cant' do better.

I don't think it's "elitist" liking a superior product.

Don't blame consoles, blame money.

.

I think you are exaggerating

4GB ram is more than enough for any modern games

Q6600 which was released 5 years ago is good enough for any modern games.

Cheep GPU like HD7770 or GTX 550 Ti can run games with much better graphic quality than consoles.

In other words, you don't need to spend a lot of money for decent gaming PC that beats console quality. And PC can used for many other things other than gaming.
