.

I think you are exaggerating

4GB ram is more than enough for any modern games

Q6600 which was released 5 years ago is good enough for any modern games.

Cheep GPU like HD7770 or GTX 550 Ti can run games with much better graphic quality than consoles.

In other words, you don't need to spend a lot of money for decent gaming PC that beats console quality. And PC can used for many other things other than gaming.
Its cheap at the end of the life of consoles, but when the new ones hit it will be much more expensive to match it, and you have to have better hardware than it, you can't just "match it," consoles are much more efficient.

The mainstream Core 2 Quad Q6600, clocked at 2.4 GHz, was launched on January 8, 2007 at US$851 (reduced to US$530 on April 7, 2007).

These next consoles should be great, I usedd to play my PS3 all the time before I got a RIG, I mostly played LBP and It was amazing, I just can't go back to that game anymore frown.gif And I was always surrounded by PC gaming in my childhood, Pentium 4 + Nvidia 7600GT, Core 2 Duo + 8600GT, they weren't even mine, they belonged to my bros and I used to play games on them. I only play console games for exclusives, and the community such as having your friends play games with you since all of them play on console.

All they've done is stifle the industry and slown down PC game development. Next gen will still be lagging behind PC hardware and will further do the same thing.
At least in the "golden age" consoles were pretty well separated from PC's, and multi-platform games weren't the norm - they actually worked, too, without any "red rings of death", CD drive's scratching the discs or other hardware failures. Modern day consoles arn't consoles, they're media hubs, and they can't do nothing my PC cant' do better.
I don't think it's "elitist" liking a superior product.

You have a point about that. For me, consoles stopped being consoles last gen bar the Gamecube.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again, when the current Gen launched the Wii was trashed by the so
called "Hard Core" but IMO it was the only true Next Gen console. It introduced a new way to play that
offered an experience that couldn't be had anywhere else. Just about everyone and
their Brother through their Grandma had to have one. It reminded me of when the NES took off but times
x100.

The haters still think it hasn't any good games and that it sucks because its different and not graphically on par
with the other two. They are wrong.

I hope Nintendo keeps on in that direction of being a Leader not a Follower.

Stagnation of innovation has very little to do with the hardware limitations.

People sure seem to like talking about the same thing over and over. It's the hype machine spitting out buzz and nothing more. Every new release wether it's software or hardware is "ground breakingly revolutionary!"

The second post should be. "I'll believe it when I sees it." /thread.

Definitely. Nintendo kept to the tradition. They made their games and experiences unique to the platform, it was this unique experience that made real console gaming (from Nintendo) so alluring, even for a PC gamer like myself. My favourite Nintendo years were around the SNES/N64 period for sure.

The other Consoles -- i mean "media hubs" -- simply followed the PC, marketing their experiences as being in HD and cutting edge, when most PC gamers are WAY ahead anyway, and likely always will be. Then what did they do when the Wii was getting all the attention? Copy it. Kinect/Move, etc. (Jack of all trades, master of none, comes to mind again)

This is why i love Nintendo and have done since NES. they churn out unique, quality, and often innovative experiences with each iteration, not just for their consoles, but the games too. Heck i've seriously been considering purchasing another Wii just to play Skyward Sword. It had plenty of good games, but most of which were directly made by Nintendo.

I sincerely hope Nintendo continue down this path, even though my first impressions of the Wii U arn't that great (so far) but i'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt based on their track record.

You sure? N. America, Europe and Japan aren't the only regions that play video games. China with its bloated population is far more invested in PC gaming, same goes for S. Korea where console gaming is practically non-existent. The top most viewed games on TwitchTV are PC games. League of Legends, Starcraft II and Day Z just to name a few. All of which are played by gamers in most major territories.

Gosh this thread disturbs me. As usual there will be a console bump at release, the pc gamers will pc game, the console gamers will console game. I will pc game alone and online, and when I have a girl over we will console game. People will put in too much cash for something that cannot be upgraded and love every penny spent. Don't bring up pc master race especially with old aming. Old console gaming was nothing like the gaming consoles bring today rolleyes.gif

People come on,if you like gaming with your console more than you do with your PC then just do it.Or if you like gaming with your PC more then do it!.

It doesn't matter if your console has worse hardware than a PC or if the games are different,it really depends on what YOU like and what you like spending your money on.

This.

Perosnally I use Linux 100% of the time, and there's not many native Linux games that are worth my time, that'll change after the Source Engine is fully ported over, but until then I'm a console only person. Consoles win my vote because I play casual games and can relax on my sofa and play any of my games that I want. There's also the few exclusives that are nice as well.

Although I do occasionally play games via Wine, I'm still not a huge fan of pc gaming.

No reason to go trash talking others though for their own opinions. Sometimes I forget this forum is filled with kids ( or immature adults ), but there's still plenty of mature people that can accept opinions for what they are and not insult people for their choices. I mean, if someone want's to jump off a bridge with a 300' drop, then yeah he's an idiot. But there's no way to make that claim by what gaming platform (console or pc) they like better.
