eVGA 670 FTW Performance Issues after Performing "The Mod"

Hi OCN, hopefully someone can help me out with this issue because it is really bothering me.

I recently did the Liquid Cooling GPU "mod" to my 670 FTW. Temperatures are now 26C at idle and 50C at full load, without that loud turbine noise coming from the back. However, when benching in Heaven, I get a lower score of 1157 vs 1290 previously, with exactly the same OC(+72 GPU, +600 Mem, 145% Power Target, Voltage Slider Maxed @ 1.175V). Before performing the mod, my max boost was 1215 Mhz from start to finish in Heaven. Now, Max Boost is 1196 from Stage 1-13 and then it ramps up to 1215 Mhz by Stage 24,25,26. The frequency oscillates a lot between 13 and 24 before it finally settles down @ 1215 Mhz. I've looked at the logs from Precision X and I can't seem to find any correlation or reason as to why it is doing this.

My one guess is that after performing the mod, I touched the metal contacts on the back of the card to feel if the VRM was too hot to touch, and immediately after, BSOD, which led me to assume that I made an electrical connection between two transistors and that caused an electrical short circuit.

My heart sank at that last sentence.

I'm confused. The video card still works and I'm able to get good FPS in Heaven. It just isn't on par to what it was before though.
