Not very often. Most people do it because they want lower temps

I had this problem a few weeks ago. It was because I kept taking my cooler off (for sending back motherboards) and then putting it back on. My temps went upto 70-80c while gaming. I got a new cooler (TS 140) as I had troubles putting it on my UD5H. Gigabyte much have thickened the board or something because it the pins wouldn't go in as easily as they did on my old Z68X UD4.

I also uses Arctic Silver 5 instead of the paste that came with the cooler. My temps rarely go above 40c even while under heavy gaming.
