Suggestions for upgrading from EVGA GTX 260 Core 216

Thread Starter
Hi everybody,

Just got a buddy of mine to buy my previous Core 2 Duo build from me and I'm gonna include my GTX 260 Core 216 with it so he can do some decent gaming. That leaves me without a video card for a few days so I have to get a new one and I'm looking to spend $200 MAX (anything over + rebates that brings it down to $200 is fine). Right now I'm playing Diablo 3. My monitors don't go further than 1680x1050 and Diablo 3 ran on average 60FPS max settings with my GTX 260. I want to play Borderlands 2 in the near future but I'll mostly be playing Diablo 3 for the next year. Any suggestions?

Also I have a preference for EVGA (because of their warranty) but if anybody suggests an AMD/ATI they think is as reliable, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604 560ti 1GB, or if you're looking for a little more VRAM for higher res, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150619 7850 2GB. Both will meet your price after rebate.

Would not consider the 550ti as it's a side grade at best. You'd basically be paying for the same performance with DX 11 support.

For the price of a gtx660ti you may as well upgrade to the 7950 and get better performance.

Though really a 7850 or GTX560ti would both be great upgrades if your going for the $200 range. The 7850 would be the faster of the two and the one I most recommend for that price range.

I already have the money for the 660ti I just don't need a card that beefy because I'm not planning on getting 1920x1080 monitors for awhile. I was actually looking at that 560 Ti and I was comparing it to this EVGA Superclocked 560.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130664&Tpk=EVGA%20SuperClocked%2001G-P3-1463-KR%20GeForce%20GTX%20560

Only difference is 48 more Cuda cores on the 560 Ti 1GB that NateST recommended.

I just noticed this EVGA DS SSC as well.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130685

I think I got it narrowed down to these 3: They're all EVGA 1gb 256-bit GDDR5

$134 GTX 560 -- 850Mhz Core -- 1700Mhz Shader -- 4104MHz Memory Clock --336 Cuda Cores (Cheapest) 3 YEAR WARRANTY

$156 GTX 560 DS SSC --900Mhz Core -- 1800Mhz Shader -- 4158MHz Memory Clock --336 Cuda Cores (Fastest speeds) 3 YEAR WARRANTY

$179 GTX 560 Ti -- 850Mhz Core -- 1700Mhz Shader -- 4104MHz Memory Clock --384 Cuda Cores (Most cores) LIFETIME WARRANTY

Go with the TI, clock advantages will be negated through overclocking and more cores. The lifetime warrant is a huge plus as well.
