long story short went to a friend's house with a mediocre computer (i3 2100 and a 7870) when I came in he was playing Dota 2. didn't care at first coz I was talking to his brorther. when I looked closely omgwthwhoahh! IT LOOKS AWESOME! it was so smooth I couldn't believe it. there was hardly any motion blur. he played CS:GO and I was so blown away despite being broke I decided I should buy one TODAY!

the plan is I'm gonna keep my current monitors. the funny thing is all three will have different resolutions. my current primary display is 1920x1200. the second screen is a 1680x1050. the 120hz monitors that I can get my hands on are all 1920x1080 screens.

so my only choices are a benq 24" monitor and the rest are 32" LEDTV's they're obviously bigger but a tad more expensive

BenQ XL2420T 24in 3D 120hz LED Monitor
http://www.tipidpc.com/viewitem.php?iid=17653710

16,950 Php. or about 395USD

cheapest 120hz display I could find and it's a samsung smart tv
Samsung UA32EH5300 32in Series 5 120Hz SMART LED TV

http://www.tipidpc.com/viewitem.php?iid=19055828
21,000 Php or about 488USD

which of these two should I buy? I assume I'll have no trouble using an LEDTV as a monitor for my pc.

I'm planning to buy lcd deskmounts on my two current monitors and prolly have them one at top of the new one and the other will be at portrait mode.

TIA OCN thumb.gif

edit:

I founda used one(used for 5 months) for 20,000Php or about 465USD. here's the direct link http://www.tipidpc.com/viewitem.php?iid=18770551 sellers seems reputable so I won't have any worries and it's just 15-30 minute drive from here
Samsung 27inch S27A950D 120hz 3D 1080p

I never buy used parts esp with monitors but if I have no choice I'm gonna go for it then

TV's don't do true 120hz. You need a monitor with Dual Link DVI or Display Port.

selling from tiger anyway
Probably the best one to get right now. Act on it soon as it will sell out.

like what I said I'm stuck with these two monitors and I have no plan on buying online through shipping. im from manila and the shipping cost will be so expensive It's not gonna be worth it.

so tv's doesnt do true 120hz. the benq monitor it is then?

All TVs are 60hz and use motion interpolation which adds input lag.

If you want a fast 120hz display with little ghosting and good colours the BenQ XL2420T should be avoided, unless you hate glossy (reflective) displays and really want to use 3D.

http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/gadgetry-electronics-discussion/10706-benq-xl2420t-120hz-3d-monitor-review.html

The Samsung S23A700D & Asus VG236H both have much better colours and less ghosting, they cost a fair bit less than the XL2420T in most countries depending on sales

DzillaXx is 100% correct, my 240Hz LCD HD panel converts the incoming 60Hz signal and then converts it to 240Hz and repeats every frame four times, I'm still capped at 60 FPS aka 60Hz because HDTV doesn't support more than 60 FPS @1080P! So I guess your choice just became easy!

The ben-q is just as good as the Samsung, just it has a matte coating which I personally like better. The Ben-q Is the second best 120hz screen next to that Samsung and also supports nvidia's 3D. My PLANAR SA2311W is a lot like the Ben-Q and I highly recommend anything like it.

I personally would avoid the Asus VG236 as its more comparable to the Acer 120hz then the Samsung and is defiantly is weaker then the Ben-Q.

Most people who have owned all of these displays will disagree. I have owned 5 120hz displays and the BenQ had the most ghosting and 2nd worst colours, the Samsung 2233rz had the worst colours.

The BenQ is ok, it has excellent ergonomics and the best 23-24 inch 3D performance, but the 2D colours are kinda meh & there is obvious ghosting.

Surely there must be other online shops you can order from jprovido.

I don't plan on going 3d (tried it and hated it) so regular 2D gaming is what I wanted to do. didn't know it would be a lot better with 120hz monitor. I've always thought the human eye can only see 60fps. it's definitely wrong and 120fps on a 120hz monitor looks A LOT BETTER
sadly these are the only monitors I can get my hands on. I've checked my favorite retailers and they almost have everything EXCEPT 120hz displays. the benq 24" monitor is the only 120hz monitor I could find here in manila.

what about the 27" 120hz samsung monitor that I posted?

+reps to all btw. keep em coming. you guys are very helpful thumb.gif
post #10 of 31
When it comes to true 120Hz monitors I'm in the dark just like you, I wish there were more manufacturers pumping out these 120Hz monitor. These days it takes longer (R&D) for newer and improved LCD/LEDs to make it to market. The 27" 120hz samsung monitor you mentioned is your best choice.
