Building my first pc

Thread Starter
Hi guys

I am building my very first pc, while using some of my old componets from my old pc.
I would like to know if I am on track and if there are any changes that you suggest i make. This rig will be used mainly for media and normal usage most of the time, but some gaming now and then.

Components i already have aquired:

Thermaltake MK-1 full chassis tower
Vantec Ion 2 Plus 800watt power supply
Corsair Vengence 1600mhz 4x8gigs ram

Intel i7 3770k processor
Inel thermal solution rts2011lc
OCZ Agility 3 120gig SSD

MSI N460gtx 1gig OC Cyclone edition
2x LG dvd writers

Storage:
1 TB Samsung HDD
2TB WD HDD
2 x 160GB Seagate HDD
80GB WD HDD

Components waiting to be acquired:
Asus Maximus 5 Formla.
200mm exhaust fan.

I have not purchased the MB as yet because it hasn't arrived in South Africa yet.

Very nice build. Just 2 points:

1) If you have a 1080p (1920x1080) monitor or multiple monitors, getting smooth fps in newer games might be a bit tough with your 460.
Upgrading it would be advised. Here are some examples that should fit any budget:

- 120$ range: Another 460 for SLI

- 200$ range: AMD 7850

- 320$ range: AMD 7950
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-R7950-TWIN-FROZR-3GD5/dp/B007NG3WR2/ref=sr_1_61?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1345794082&sr=1-61

- 400$ range: Nvidia 670

2) Getting another 2TB drive (or even 1TB) instead of the small drives would cause less heat/noise and free up some ports. (you'll be using all available 8-ports with your setup)

Good luck thumb.gif
