He offered $500 straight up which is already a crazy offer to be honest and then no legal fees would be involved.

This is why I hate music distributors.

EDIT: Now he owes $675k?! How the hell does that even pass as fair. US judges have a negative IQ I swear.

Judges are bound to honour the boundaries of law.

They cannot base their sentence on their own emotions and opinion. The judge most probably thought it was absurd too, but if a lawyer conclusively proves that a defendant broke an actual law and can justify the damages, a judge has no other option but to pass a sentence.

Exactly.

Or even better... listening to music by bands ( = people) you're willing to support financially.

What I said has nothing to do with piracy, its just the facts. You can't run to bankruptcy to discharge criminal debts, among other debts society deems non-dischargeable.

But seriously... Why should I clean after those companies when they leave certain files?

If it was transferred to my computer withouth my permission (temp folder), I have the right to keep it. lachen.gif

If you are not: somehow buying directly from them or sending money directly to them you're not really doing that.
Dotcom got pwnd because his idea is to really do something like that. The fairy-tale world with musicians getting money from their songs instead of companies that refuse to die out.
