Problems beyond my knowledge. - Page 3

If it makes noise, I am sure it's the drive.... that it does so only in that specific game might be because it's that game that's installed on the defective part of the HDD..

I don't care.. noisy hard drive = RMA in my book, in every case.

Alright I guess I will have to RMA the thing. Now. If I RMA both hard-drives. and only 1 is defective what will they do ? I never RMA anything ... been lucky so far. will they charge me shipping for both ways?

How long do RMA's usually take

I RMA-ed a drive once. You only should RMA the defective one. I paid for shipping only back to the manufacturor, and that's it.

It'll like take two weeks or so.. depending on the manufacturor.

I RMA-ed a Western Digital, and they had the option of cross shipping.. I had the new drive in just 3 days (costed me $5 extra or so though...)

Alright, well it is going to be difficult to figure out which 1 is the defective one. What is the best way on going about this? I need to back up my drive first anyways. I like to RMA it tomorrow if possible.

I think the reason why S.M.A.R.T and the Seagate utility don't work is because you're running RAID....

You cannot hear clearly which one is the bad one? Maybe take them out of the bracket, and put them a bit apart..?

Alright Well I sure am glad that I took both hard-drives out... Loaded the game ... I had both harddrives in my hands next to my ear... waiting patiently for the sound... and it was inside the case hahahaha... so now its either... 1. Floppy. 2. Dvd Burner. or 3. Dvd Rom... it sounds like floopy to me... So what can I do now haha

EDIT: Yup it is my floppy. Put my finger on it... it was vibrating a little bit when the sound came too
post #28 of 56
Ok... just disable and disconnect the floppy. See if the problems still occur.

Maybe it's the floppy confusing your mobo?

Sure enough the sound is gone. Now how can I test my HDD's for defects? I just want to make sure everything is working all right.
