And where does parenting come into this quote? Irrelevance is strong with this one.

People think they are better than the people younger than them when it comes to morals, way of life, etc.

People today think that young people are spoiled.

So true. I bet people have been saying for the past couple hundred years. Its nothing new, kids always want the new stuff because they see someone else with it and think why cant I have it too. Its up to the parents to teach them that you cant just have everything. Im 20 years old and im personally offended by how every older person says that this generation is terrible and stupid, as if everyone from the previous generation was a polite scholar that got straight As in high school and college and had huge amounts of responsibility and appreciation for all things material. This is nothing new, before the phones it was sneakers, or a new bike, or some odd toy that just came out that everyone wanted, there was always something, and there were always parents that bought the stuff for the kids, and also ones that refused to and instead taught the child some responsibility. Stop making it seem like its only a problem now.

Yea. The article is about peer pressure. Not spoiling children. Or whether one thinks children are spoiled.

I saw a show today about King Tut (the teenage Pharo). It has always been a mystery how and why this teen died so young.Todays show proposed that the King liked to hot rod around on his chariot while hunting and crashed the thing. The show ended saying"not to awful hard to believe that a teenage boy would get into trouble racing his chariot",some things never change it seems.

This is nothing new. When I was in school instead of tech gadgets it was T.H. branded clothing, jinco's and what ever the latest pair of basket ball shoe's Nike released.

a local school around me made local new's for a new policy. Any and all MP3 players, Tablet's, Laptop's, Smart Phone's or any other device outside of what the school provides in the computer lab are very strictly prohibited. This same school also has a new dress code. No clothing advertising Sports Teams, TV show's and similar are banned, along with the regular no sagging, no short skit's, no overly baggy jeans, ect, ect.

I think all public school's should adopt the same kind of strick regulation on students. Millions upon millions of tax doller's are spent so these kids can have an education instead it a porstitot training ground breading ignorant behavior. Worst of all the few kids who actually do want to learn are held back. Disgusting in my opinion.

Which proves that most places of social gathering are vanity fairs and it starts in childhood. Say thanks to the system. thumb.gif

People today think that young people are spoiled.

With the decrease in birth rates there are a lot of spoiled single children in rich homes in many countries, even China. It can even apply to two to three siblings depending how rich the parents are and how much they spoil them. Theres a reason its called spoiling.

A baby only cares about itself, your job as a parent is to turn that baby into a responsible hardworking productive adult that will make the world better and be able to control themselves. You can also go too hard on this and create massive mental problems. But teaching your kids morals and productivity are a parents jobs and it will always appear they are restricting, because they are restricting, which is their job to make you into a capable adult. Our natural instincts and desires are destructive and the brain isn't even developed until you are 24 or 25 so they are literally not capable of thinking for themselves.

Parents are no longer parents, its more of a peer relationship in a lot of cases which is sad because its destructive to the kid and society.
