That is 16 times as sharp as current HD TVs offering about 2MP resolutions.

Japanese broadcaster NHK showed off the technology in London during the Olympics, where audiences said it gave them a sense of being at the events.

Good for stadium screens maybe? This wouldn't be necessary in a normal household.

Necessary? no. Awesome? Yes.

So much PPI!

Someone will always want a higher resolution... I wonder what kind of monster connection would be needed to stream this. Not to mention the price of the panels.

And for the record, at least 95% of people I know cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080p on a 42" LCD.

But kudos. Even if I think it's pointless for everything up to around 60-70". After that, it's the iPad "Retina Display" argument all over again.

Even if i had enough VRAM for this, i'm guessing my rig would push 2 or 3 FPS lol

I wonder what the ratio of bad:good panels is for its manufacturing process, unless its made of segments maybe...gonna need maaaaad $$$$$ to get anything like this...which reminds me, I need to start playing the lottery:D

back in the day, there were people who thought 480p was all people needed... then came 1080i and things changed...resolutions will keep increasing until screens have the same resolution as our eyes can perceive.

also, people in my area can definitely notice the difference between 720p and 1080p televisions. or even 720p content on a 1080p television. i don't know many people who don't feel like there is much difference between the resolutions.... tongue.gif

i want a 8k eyefinity setup now frown.gif
