For me it's all about getting the hardware that makes points. Picked up a 5870 with an Accelero Xtreme cooler, which even at 4.6 GHz on SBE got 19.4 points. Need to change boards to get that up to 5.1G. Also need to do a lot of my recent cards on the single core benchmarks - haven't fired up TinyXP properly for AQ3 to 3D05 in over a year. Looking for a delidded Ivy that'll do 5.2 on water for that.

I've been trying to do that as well - perhaps I should re-bench the 5850s and 5870s I have lying around but that entails switching components and water spillage since I can't be bothered with draining. tongue.gif

Grabbed a couple of cheap GTX 260s, then realized they were 55nm and felt like an utter fool. My last couple of attempts involved a GMA950 in AQ3 under W8, and that looks like a slideshow.

I need to get an IB CPU as well. Lost my 57x multi SB (I guess one shouldn't pump 1.65v into a CPU under water) and received a 53x from RMA instead.

I would rock w7 x64 for AQ3, full 4c 8t as well.

My current IB struggles to stay under 100ºC at 4.9 GHz. Can't delid it, it's my review sample.

1.65 volts should have been fine biggrin.gif I swear I did that on air for a UK overclocking competition.

I err on the side of caution with all NVIDIA cards... the rankings for those are full of LN2 results. Struggle to even get near 15 points with those, no matter what cards.

I know, I wrote a guide.. tongue.gif Though some older cards are a little iffy, preferring XP over w7. Odd I know. But I haven't fired up the normal SB OC in a while frown.gif

Guess my CPU was weak. tongue.gif That, or I should have reapplied thermal paste instead of just putting the block on it - temps were fine though! Laziness kills hardware. redface.gif

Quite right on the NVIDIA cards...

This discussion has fired me up to do some benching; was in a lull for a bit...got too sick of seeing "Received 0.41 hardware points..."

And hey, I've got 4890s and 4870s too! Now pray I don't spill water when I switch out the SB for SBE.

Adjust your loop for two blocks, or get a single block to cover both? biggrin.gif

I actually have two CPU waterblocks in my loop but the second one is a way to facilitate swapping water-cooled GPUs for air-cooled ones. tongue.gif

Didn't spill a drop of water, by the way. I'm getting pretty good at swapping components while balancing tubes to make sure water stays in them. Helps to have a tech bench since everything stays horizontal.

Unfortunately, I got crappy scores not worth posting. I guess the 7000 series are the focus of the new Catalyst drivers, and benching AMD/ATI is a pain compared to NVIDIA (at least for me). Whereas NVIDIA drivers typically recover after a bad OC, AMD/ATI drivers just freeze or black screens.

Usually the opposite for me. How odd
