Need to reset a botched BIOS - Little help please >.<

Ok, to cut a long story short, I was impatient and flashed a (probably) botched bios (that I edited by RBE and ati win flash) onto my vtx3d 6950 1GB in hopes of unlocking it. I suspect that it is still unlockable but I just did it wrong. Luckily they have a dual bios system, so I'm using the other option now.

The problem now being is that I cannot boot to the first bios to flash the original software back onto it. How would I go about fixing this?

If you use ATIFlash in DOS and do -i command, does it list both separate? If yes just flash to the other bios. If not, I think you have to have another card installed and run atiflash -i and just flash the other card. It should work even if it doesn't POST with the card in. I think switching BIOSes while the card is on would be a bad idea, so just use another card in the primary slot and use it to hookup to the monitor.

The second option is the easiest for me, I haven't used ati flash in dos, it was a windows gui, but I presume it's still applicable. I have an old nvidea card, I'll just use that and see how that goes

no need

dual bios cards are designed to hotflash

just boot up with the one that works, then fip the switch and reflash

:-)

Ok, sorted it out. Fixed up the BIOS and reflashed it (turns out I set the clock limit to below my current OC). I don't think it worked tho, winflash shows me that it is unlocked but GPU-Z still says 1408 shaders. Ah well, I'll probably upgrade sometime soon anyways.

Thanks for the help guys
