Looking for 120 Hz gaming monitor

Thread Starter
I don't really know what makes a monitor good but it is for gaming only. My price range is $300-$350 but I honestly have no idea how much a 120 Hz monitor will cost. I can probably sell my current one for around $130. Screen size I would prefer would be 23-24 inches with a matte black finish. And does 60Hz vs 120Hz change anything with the FPS that you get?

Next to a good mouse and powerful video cards a 120hz monitor is the best thing to allow your gaming skills to be fully used. For me and many others 120hz will be a big jump for you. Really its the only way to be a true pro gamer. The new CS GO works great on 120hz as well. I play TF2 on a vary competitive level and everyone who has seen the game running on my 120hz monitor is blown away. No more getting killed by scouts because the screen can't keep up.

60hz-120hz will not effect your current fps as long as the resolution doesn't change.

Why do you want a 120hz monitor and not an IPS?

I honestly don't know what the difference is? I've only just heard of IPS monitors. Are they new or am I living under a rock?

I got a BenQ XL2410T for $150 as a refurb sale. Works great, I am going to save for a Catleap I think though as I have 2 670's now. tongue.gif

It's 5ms response time though. I thought 2ms was the only way to go for gaming?

edit: I see that it says 5ms but it's 2ms GTG?

I am actually liking this monitor. Anything wrong with it? I've never owned BenQ. And can somebody explain why it says 5ms but then it says 2ms GTG?

I don't know the answer to that, i have never tried 2ms. All I can say is the image quality and response is excellent. It is branded as a gaming monitor and its the best monitor i have ever used, i also bought from a shop that literally had hundreds of monitors for sale but the benq just stood out for picture quality. Having said that if i went back in time id buy the samsung as i have an ati card and the benq monitor only supports nvidia 3d. The samsung is a ati approved 3d monitor. But like i say in your position benq would be excellent for you. I know the reason you want 120hz is for gaming but you might aswell get futue proofed for anything that comes out in 3d

What games support 3D? I mostly play WoW, BF3, TF2 and CSS. And what 3D glasses would I need to buy?
