Asus PB238Q

Thread Starter
Does anyone know when the successor to the Asus PA238Q is going on sale? Does anyone know its specs and how it compares to the PA238Q? I don't known if I should buy that or wait.

Seems like it has a higher contrast ratio.

PB238Q: ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio (ASCR) : 80000000:1
vs
PA238Q: ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio (ASCR) : 50000000:1

Newegg has them in stock.

Dynamic contrast ratio is a scam, please refer to the sticky.

If I turn a pixel off vs make it show pure white, the ratio is infinity. Hence, big numbers like that literally mean nothing. Please do more research! thumb.gif

The advertised ratios are a scam. The dynamic part... not always. I find it useful for certain games to use the "Game" setting on my monitor which does include DCR. And yes, its properly calibrated. Still helps with games that are particularly dark/murky without blowing out the light scenes. Not all monitors implement it well enough to bother using, but I find the U2412M does.

I was talking about the ratios advertised and how they pump up numbers for advertising sake. Real ratios have a use, I'm sure. biggrin.gif
