Save and buy one you'll be happy with like the one you saw at NCIX. The monitor is basically the center piece of the computer and most likely the thing you'll hold onto the most and stare at every time you use the computer. It is a worthy investment.

What is the point of the 241fps cap? Is it something to do with a quirk in the engine? This is not the first time I've heard of a 2xRefresh+1 cap for that game.

Personally, I would never play without V-Sync on a 120Hz monitor. Tearing isn't my idea of 'smooth', and the V-Sync lag at 120Hz is so low there is simply no reason to keep it off.

There are a couple of different beliefs about the fps cap in TF2, I don't think there is much of a benefit from running the fps cap at 2x refresh rate + 1 since your fps will probably dip under that even with an fps config.

Some people also run at 132 fps for the following reason:

People will also run 132fps if they're running acceleration which is fps dependent like Quake. I personally find that running "fps_max x" causes input lag and jittering, but YMMV.

I don't really have much knowledge on 120hz panels so I'll reserve any comments for someone that actually knows what they're talking about.
