Should I be worried about it failing anytime soon? I know you get what you pay for but when I built this computer and bought the tower money was/still is tight. I just want to know if it is something I should look into replacing next chance I get since there has been a thread or two I saw floating around saying there cheap etc..

On a close related note is there anyway to see the wattage the computer is using through the computer itself my younger brother threw out my notebook with those notes I had on the watt usage and I dont want to go threw looking everything up again in my computer if I can help it.

Thank you for reading

It really depends on what your running with the PSU, but its definitely not a good one and I'd probably been inclined to change it if your system was using anywhere close to 400W

Only until you give us your computer specs can we estimate your power draw.

Well I just doubled the psu from DiabloTek 400w to a Corsair 800w to cover anything I may do with it in the future since I wanna attempt to overclock it sometime add parts here and there seeing how it was only $100 it seemed to me worth it just hope it lasts for more then 5yrs biggrin.gif

If that diablotek survived whatever you were running, you were not drawing anything over 250w... Its a nice deal, but is overkill for anything other than a high end multi gpu system with a high oc.

That's what I hope to accomplish over the the next year or so to be honest once I get comfortable with thought of messing with all the stuff in the bios.

Start with a Corsair builder series PSU. I have ran high end GPU's including 5970 from a CX500 with rebate at newegg you might get one for $35.

He already bought a GS800. doh.gif

Why did you blow $100 on a PSU, when a $30-40 unit would have been fine? You were clearly not drawing over about 150w at any given time, otherwise that Diablotek unit would have gone up in flames (dead serious). That's a 150w PSU at best, and it survived fine. If your components are still HEALTHY on the other hand, that's another story.

Given your low usage, a Corsair CX430, Antec Earthwatts Green 380, or Rosewill Green 430 would have all been fine choices, and they're all right around $30-40 or so. You would also be extremely surprised what you can run off those. I've ran my sig rig off a CX430 before, no issues at all, and my 12v rail never once dropped below 11.90v (tested with a multimeter).
