You NEED to, or WANT to look at your temps? Really, once you know what your temps are they aren't gonna change.

I suggest just getting a Mechanical. It'll last forever. (50 million key strokes :O

I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Razer Deathstalker because I've had some issues with Razer products in the past. the STRIKE7 will probably be good, but for 300 bucks I'd recommend buying a mechanical keyboard and another monitor altogether. I'd say just buy the Logitech G19

First of all people, he asked a simple question and you are asking him if he really needs it when he says he does. Just answer the guy's question if you know the answer or at least give your opinion on the subject but with an answer to his question as well.

Now back to your question LCD screens on keyboards are really useful especially when overclocking and pc troubleshooting, I personally love the LCD screen on my keyboard especially in things like this or even in simple things like checking what song you are listening without alt-tabbing what many people don't understand is that when you start using a screen like this..you simply can't go back, furthermore if you have any programming skills then the options are absolutely limitless also there are fanbases that keep releasing "apps" for those keyboards.

I have the G19 which is a really good keyboard with infinite possibilities and even dedicated sites with apps BUT as already mentioned there is one big drawback....no mechanical ones and that really is a big drawback and keyboards like this usually don't justify their price.

So my recommendation is the G19 keyboard and if you know programming then you can create your own apps as well.

EDIT: Btw there are more drawbacks like the plastic feel this keyboard has but I would advice you to look up some reviews first

I'm coming from G510.
LCD screen in keyboard is sooo useful. But people who never use it before can't understand.
I still miss the convenience after using mechanical keyboard tho.
Right now I'm using my 2nd monitor with Aida64.
But when I game with both monitor on, my video card starts boiling, probably bottleneck from my cpu.
So i guess my next motherboard upgrade, it comes with apps, I could watch info thru my cellphone?
Anyone use it before? And which motherboard has this function?
Or ... same old wishlist, wait logitech goes mechanical.

I have the Asus P9X79 Pro motherboard with built in bluetooth and cell connect. There is an app for the iphone and for android which does 1 click overclocking and temp monitoring. I tested it with temp monitoring and it worked well. Only thing to keep in mind ( not sure about other boards ) but this app only shows you motherboard and cpu temp, wouldn't show me GPU temps.

My recommend would be get the new G510 or the G19. The LCD screens are definitely nice! As far has him not NEEDING an LCD screen.. He doesn't NEED a mechanical keyboard either. You're coming from a keyboard that wasn't mechanical so your not going to miss it, but you will get the LCD screen that you want. Nobody needs a mechanical keyboard, they are nice.. but they don't make you a better gamer or anything special. Yes they last longer, but who is going to keep their same keyboard for 10 years?
