3D MODELLING Game Engine for a beginner - Page 2

UDK is much more user friendly than cryengine and also you have way more tutorials/info about udk on the web than cryengine. 3ds max is used mostly for games/advertising while Maya is used mostly in CG movies. Maya is way more powerful than 3ds max in animation and rigging.

I see, I'll take a look at it eventually. thumb.gif

Agreed, I have used both. IIRC the Pixar studio uses Maya.

Thread Starter

so basically

what game companies/animation studios are is just a bunch of people like us (with more practice) doing what we do??

some are , the older ones , but since this "market" was rising , universities and institutes now offer classes , but at the same time , u can use the internet and learn too smile.gif , and a diploma looks good on a resume rather than the tutorials u read . but , i think your portfolio will speak louder than the resume , it depends on the company i think smile.gif

in the end .. practice makes perfect , u can be good at one thing , but cant master it all lol , its all about the textures , just focus on one thing and see if u like it , if u dont , move on
