I'm looking to setup several vmWare clients to be running on one of my computers that i have. for example i'd like to have an untangle server to do some filtering and scanning before my pfSense box. I'm trying to figure out how to structure how to virturalize one network interface to another virturalized network interface. I've trying searching for this but i haven't been able to find the proper language to have the proper results come up. so if someone could either give me the proper language or to direct me to the specific information i will need to complete project.

You would be virtualizing pfsense and untangle? What roles would the pfsense machine be handling?

I think Untangle has better filtering and virus checking, compared to pfSense, but don't quote me on that.
I've tried both and I've had more success with pfSense in a VM than with Untangle - Untangle somehow caused an Ethernet packet storm.
@OP
As for the actual setup: Basically, if your Untangle machine is your frontline machine,I assume it will carry the address handed to it by your ISP on its WAN port. therefore its LAN port has to be on the same subnet (virtual or not) as the WAN port of the pfSense box.
The pfSense box in turn must act like a router for the rest of your network, therefore pfSense-LAN must be in the same subnet as the rest of your LAN, and should likely be a DHCP server and advertise itself as the default gateway for the LAN. The default route for pfSense should point to the LAN port of the Untangle box.
Internet<->Untangle-WAN<->Untangle-LAN<->pfSense-WAN<->pfSense-LAN<->Rest of LAN.
Something like that.

I know its been a bit since this post went up but I was wondering if anyone could expand upon the comment above in regurd to Untangle LAN and pfSense WAN on the same subnet. I understand the terminology but I just can't get it to work properly.
