i5 3570k Performance increase? - Page 2

680 or 670 would be good. Great in fact. I use a 670, on a 27" 1080p monitor. Fantastic. No issues. Absolutely love it.

Thanks for you time!

Well OCing the CPU won't have a noticeable boot time increase. But those clocks are feasible anyway. 212 plus is a nice cooler for £20 (or however much it costs on Newegg)

The rest of the thread has confused me. Are you already on i5 3570k or will you upgrade to it? I realise that IB > SB but I don't see the need to upgrade from SB to IB if you already have like, a 2500k or something.

As for GPU I would upgrade to GTX 670. You may have a nice budget but the performance gap between itself and the 680 doesn't justify the 680's price. I don't know if 2GB is enough for both your monitors though.

Maybe something like a HD 7850?

Yeah I know lol... I bought it as a budget card, which then led to another thing, then another, and yadda yadda yadda then my whole new rig 2cents.gif

I am more of an nVidia guy, mainly because "back in the day" AMD's drivers were horrible, and I have no clue how they are now. But I WAS gonna get 670/680, but I think I'll try AMD this round.

Especially with the things I do with my computer along with gaming, After Effects, Sony Vegas, all them goodies.

While benchmarking I got my 280 at 104C without any problems. I know its not something to brag about but when you have your own home made cooling solution it is lol

No, 2 gb is not enough because I am getting a 30inch monitor later, or a big ol' TV for my screen.

I have a 3570k now, sorry for the misunderstanding. I come from a X5355 8 core server, so I am new to this whole "K" stuff.

I remember when Pentium D came out, I feel so old! wackosmiley.gif

2gb is enough.. I run 2560x1600 res.. which is alot more Vram then a Crappy 1080i TV and the most ive ever used was 1800mb with a game maxxed out...

Only way u would need more then 2gb is if you run multi 2560x1440 monitors or texture mods...

Even then u will be GPU limited before Vram limited...

I am on a tight budget, I can't afford 2 680s at once lol. But maybe down the road...

How are the AMD drivers now? Do I need to download a new one every time a gay comes out?
