Issue with i7 950 OC keeps crash dumping

Hey all,
I am having OC issues. Can't seem to find a stable system.
See some specs below.

I have an EVGA x58 3xSLI, Intel i7 950, and 12GB 1067mhz RAM.

I'm not sure why this low of a OC is causing instability as I am not a crazy OC, I'm only trying to get around 3.8Ghz, but do not seem to be able to. Seeing how some OCers are able to push the i7 950 to mid 4s maybe even 5s, I don't understand why my system is not stable.

I have tried a higher Core Voltage, like up to 1.2500, but again, I am not sure if I need that much for the little OC I am doing.

I strongly believe it has to do with the memory. It seems that when I increase the Frequency/Bus Speed to anything over 160, it increases my memory to close to 1333 mhz, which happens to be the max for my MOBO. Is that the issue? Cause I tried increasing the DIMM Voltage for my RAM to like 1.525 and 1.550.
I finally took Frequency down to 160x24 multiplier, and did torture test, it ran for 30 minutes, so I figured it's okay.
But now when I run some games on full load, it does crash.

Is there a way to increase the speed of the CPU with the Frequency thing, but not effect the frequency of the memory?

Can anyone explain this to me?

Thanks!thumb.gif
