Picking out a PSU, a little confused.

I'm a very big Corsair guy, I feel like their products are very good quality.

But I'm confused why their prices for PSUs are far and above everyone elses. For example:

Looking for 750-800w PSU.

I replaced my psu when I was upgrading.I was a big antec fan.But when I put my new upgrades in my case, the antec took a big crap on me. That seems like too much for that psu.

Same one at Newegg. $174 with rebate.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139015

I think becuase it's modular,it's costs more.

Their Prices are higher because they know they can be sold for more because of it being "Corsair !" They're great PSU's but its cause its Corsair that they're more expensive. I'd get the AX750W if you want a Corsair, it's great and not many people need more than 750W. and if you are on a budget look at their TX series or lower if price is a big issue.

It's expensive because
  1. AX series use sophisticated designs with high-grade, more expensive components, fully-modular cables, and good manufacturing quality
  2. there's a 7-year warranty
  3. it's Corsair, so they can get away with charging a little more than others for comparable products

If you look at roughly comparable products from others (and subtract some cost if they're not fully modular), like Seasonic X Series, Rosewill Lightning / NZXT Hale90 / Kingwin Lazer Gold, FSP Aurum Pro, Antec High Current Pro, Enermax Revolution87+, etc., the prices are really not that different than Corsair AX.

Corsair's lower-end stuff is cheaper, and so is everybody else's lower-end stuff.

I believe the AX750 is on sale for 119 atm. What are you powering with your new PSU ? Also, try to keep an open mind when shopping. Corsair and Seasonic have gotten a bit stubborn with their pricing as of late and it's all our fault as consumers. We are particularly guilty here at OCN. They are good solid units, but are often recommended blindly and without hesitation by members that aren't as knowledgeable as they think they are. There are often equal or better units from a different OEM that are much cheaper that simply get passed by. I'd love to make some recommendations for you. Please fill out your sig rig in your user profile so we can better help you. Unoriginal Sin is one of my very favorite people here on OCN because he doesn't sugar coat anything, tells it like it is, and is supremely knowledgeable. So is Phaedrus2129. Phae actually wrote up a nice thread discussing the matter of the over-recommendation of the Corsair/Seasonic in general around here. And please understand, I'm not bashing on these companies, I own an HX750 myself and it's been superb. But being blindly faithful to a company stagnates innovation which costs us as enthusiasts.

Completely agree with this, actually posted about that in a couple threads xD , also saw that rant about it as well.

I'd give another company some love and buy their PSU instead of Corsair/Seasonic ... OCZ isn't as bad as they say, their ZX series doesn't have many problems that i know of... they have a nice gold 850W PSU, fully modular as well , and cheaper than Corsairs AX750...

Well this a build I'm buying in a few weeks. But here's what the build will be. Also add in a Twin Frozr III 4GB GTX 680. I will also most likely add 8 more GB later. he original one I wanted was an NZXT, the reviews were good.

I've decided on this. Looks very good, price is fair as well. Thanks for your help!
