Monitor just died, which best fits me next

Funny i have been researching new monitors today and mine just died, all of a sudden it almost look as if brightness was turned down really low and then as if it was turned down to lowest setting. now when i turn it on i see everything fine for 2 secs then it just switches so you can barely see anything. Already tried different input on pc(internal graphics) but same happens even upon booting.

So i was initially going for overlord model but because of hype i saw but i cant wait until then looking to get it within next few days, maybe its a sign i dont need it.

I was using a viewsonic 19" I will primarily do gaming(mostly fps) but many different games, Trying to stay at i guess 23' and above, im running a 5850

I looked at last post of gaming which mentioned Asus VG236H which is $349, and i do have a microcenter close where i did read a little hype on EQ276W 27" IPS LED Monitor which is $399 + tax

honestly since im so far behind game in monitors i dont know different between asus screen and ips screen , 60 hz or120hz(dont even know if you can tell diff in games or get an edge), i just dont want monitor to hold me back in gaming(i heard monitors with 1440 are better cause of more real estate on sides) and good pq for games, I will barely use it to watch episodes i think as i already have a 46" tv for that, but wouldnt be bad, and Possibly setup multiple monitors in future but not even sure yet, but would upgrade gfx card before that. I guess if theres a big price difference for a small premium its not worth it for me but if someone can put some options with the difference im willing to look.

Preferred budget limit? I see you're posting things up to $399, but what do you really want to pay tops? Also, what size and resolution is preferred?

Not sure differences for resolution read its better for gaming to have 2560 x 1440 because of more real estate on side so if its a big benefit will take that.

Size is i assume the bigger it gets the more delay there is, 23" would be fine unless its a big game changer to go up to 27 because of res?

Price t would prefer to spend around $250-3 but if its worth it Im willing to spend up to $450, cause i use it many hours a day

Hopefully you can understand my rambling Issue is i have never seen anything above 1920x1080 and thats on a bigger screens so have no idea what it will look like smaller , lol, this just happened to quick.

If your looking for gaming i would recommend a 120hz monitor, especially if your a fps player. If you not a hardcore gamer i would recommend the Korean monitors aka shimian catleap or crossover (whichever you prefer to spend the money on). IMO i would go with the korean monitor (i have a crossover ledP) it was the best buy i have ever made and if i want to go to 120 hz ill just wait a bit until they release the new panels. either way goodluck!

Im not a hardcore gamer but I can end up spending hours every so often, sounds like korean catleap is way to go but due to time constraint im assuming that Auria 27" EQ276W would be my best bet and worth premium over other monitors ? Also i just noticed its only 60hz though, is it a big difference from 120, i could always use my other tv for a short time. What are big benefits of these monitors, and i know I will be upgrading my gpu soon since i oc'ed i can run 1920x1080 bf3 with high settings and AA off, im just waiting for a really good sale to convince me

Edit: Since primary for gaming even though im not a hardcore gamer but read some issues with pq, dont want to sacrifice in game pq to much would this be a better alternative BenQ XL2420T

Concern for me is they ship from out of country and if there is any issue with monitor it will turn into a headache and long delay to get your next one and shipping costs?!

Whats so good about the cat leap as appose to that monitor i linked last, just dont want to have slight delays like i have in bf3 so far that cause me deaths( and multiple broken kb's) but i also want good pq ingame so i can see in dark areas(even while adjusting pq settings still have trouble seeing at times)

Everyone seems to love Catleap...but I am the odd man out.

I seriously considered Catleap...but initially stayed away since I didn't want to deal with gray market hardware without much warranty support. That issue is now being addressed by stores like Micro Center, who are starting to sell similar panels. Similar - as in lame stand, minimal connections, and no in-monitor color/gamma/temp adjustment. Keep in mind, games will not typically take advantage of software-based ICC color correction. Furthermore, most of these Korean panels are not going to run at 120Hz.

Sure, if you game primarily, then high res might be the ticket, but if you also use your system for productivity, you might be better served with dual monitors...if you have the desk space.

I decided to go with dual monitors at home since they work so well for me at work. Sure, I game, but I also edit documents, write code, edit images/video, and perform a wide range of other non-gaming tasks on my PC. Dual monitors give me even more room than a Catleap...and more flexibility.

I went with the 1920x1200 Dell U2412M (eIPS), which yields 3840 width. With that, I can run an IDE with all panels open on one monitor and numerous windows on the other....or have four documents open side by side...or multiple windows on one monitor with full screen video on the other. In general, it just rocks. Heck, even when I game, I can use the second monitor for my RCON tool...so I don't need to minimize to get to it.

I paid a bit more, but not much - $530 for the pair...shipped...from NewEgg Business...an authorized Dell reseller...so I also have domestic Dell warranty support.

Not bashing the Korean monitors. Just wanted to mention that they are not the solution for everyone. One size does not necessarily fit all. thumb.gif
