just make sure you have a steady hand and 1~2 sec lock-in to set the picture in the camera, that way even you have some crappy camera, you still might have a good shot, less blur... tongue.gif

I tried to do that... also my usual tactic of taking 10,000 photos of everything then just culling off the crap ones seemed to work reasonably well.

Here we go: opened all the packaging and what's the first thing that happens when I unbox something? One or both of my cats end up in the box tongue.gif immediately.

SAM_2804.jpg

I always love this part - unboxing things is one of the best bits of the whole build I think.

SAM_2809.jpg

For a cheap case, the CM Elite 430 has impressed me with its general feel and feature level.

SAM_2813.jpg

Power supply in

SAM_2819.jpg

Removed the supplied front intake fan and added a gasket behind it

SAM_2822.jpg

Motherboard mounted. This was fiddly. Also anyone who finds this from Google searching is probably wondering what the two different looking standoffs are that come with the CoolerMaster Elite 430: they are nothing special. They work in any spot, they are just guides. They are not actually a longer standoff than any of the others. Hopefully that helps someone because it took me a bit of searching to find out.

SAM_2825.jpg

Top fans mounted. I should have ordered a 3rd one of these for the rear exhaust, but I didn't. I'll see what airflow feels like with the i30 cooler blowing rearwards (not upwards) and if I think it needs a fan there I'll see about ordering another one.

SAM_2829.jpg

SAM_2830.jpg

Probably a bit of a weird sequence but I decided to mount the optical drive and card reader next.

SAM_2835.jpg

CPU time

SAM_2836.jpg

SAM_2840.jpg

SAM_2842.jpg

Annoyingly, the backplate of the i30 cooler won't fit between the motherboard and the tray to slide in; it should fit fine when mounted but in order to get it there I have to lift the motherboard again, and that means removing the top fans as well. Only way to go about it though so it has to happen. That's a tonight job I think smile.gif

Mounting the Arctic i30 CPU cooler actually turned out pretty fiddly. I read this in a review somewhere as well so it was no surprise.

SAM_2844.jpg

Three corners of the backplate actually contact the motherboard support panel, but not enough to worry me.

SAM_2848.jpg

RAM mounted to avoid awkwardness after the cooler is in place.

SAM_2850.jpg

The rearmost top fan had to come out again to get the 8-pin power plug in place. Corsair's lovely cable sleeving actually got in the way here - the glue-backed heatshrink used around the end made a sharp bend quite difficult to acheive and I wasn't comfortable using that much force...

SAM_2854.jpg

.... so this became a case of "thanks, but no thanks" and I removed the heatshrink. This allowed for a much tighter turn to clear the fan comfortably.

SAM_2856.jpg

SAM_2857.jpg

CPU fan was next to get plugged in to avoid taking that top fan out a fourth time tongue.gif

SAM_2861.jpg

Then after repositioning the second top fan and plugging them into the Pro4-M's pair of CHA_FAN headers, it was time for the cooler to go in. I probably could have been neater with the AS4 paste supplied, but the photo makes it look like it's applied a lot heavier than it actually is.

SAM_2862.jpg

SAM_2867.jpg

SAM_2868.jpg

SAM_2871.jpg

SAM_2873.jpg

SAM_2875.jpg

Wiring needed attention. This was fast approaching becoming the priority job.

SAM_2853.jpg

The HDD went in next. I tried it in a couple of spots and liked it here best where the full air flow from the front fan should keep it nice and cool forever. Also in this pic you can see I spent some time gathering the PSU cabling into some sort of order. There's more work left with that and the case's options are rather limited, but I should be able to come up with something fairly neat with enough persistance.

SAM_2883.jpg

SAM_2877.jpg

Graphics card went in next. Turns out it has a very red PCB, which I was hoping it wouldn't. Still, hopefully it won't detract too much from the black/blue theme of the case, particularly under the system lighting.

SAM_2884.jpg

SAM_2885.jpg

Clearance between the HD7850 and the i30 is tight!!

SAM_2887.jpg

And lastly for now, here's a quick shot of my cabling efforts so far. Plenty more to be done, as you can see.

SAM_2890.jpg

More work tonight.

Two huge problems with that build so far.....

1) You used WAAAAAAAY too much TIM on that cooler. Use this method here for HDT coolers:
HDT_TIM_Application_Two_Lines.jpg

2) You need to get a little more creative with cable management. thumb.gif It looks like you've got most of the cables out of the way of airflow, but its not really aesthetically appealing as of yet.

Right, cheers. I'll pull that cooler off again and revisit the TIM situation. Won't take long, it's an easy cooler to work with.

Cable management isn't anywhere even close to done yet. Just barely started smile.gif It's a shame there's no room behind the motherboard tray. I usually like to route things around there but there isn't space in this tower.

Excellent build. You cant go wrong with a high clocked 3570K and a 7850. wink.gif

Thanks guys!

Well I have a couple more photos to upload, but the PC is up and running. I have updated BIOS and SSD firmware, done all Windows updates and installed enough drivers to get everything working properly.

I'm having a little trouble getting it to recognise the WD 2TB drive. It's plugged in and powered up, shows up in BIOS and diskpart and Device Manager lists it as working correctly; it just doesn't show up in Windows Explorer at all. Is it just a matter of mapping it a drive letter in diskpart or should I be concerned?

I had a lot of trouble getting two WD drives to work in AHCI mode in my sig rig as well. So much trouble, in fact, that I gave up and they are running in IDE tongue.gif

Very happy with how everything is running so far.

edit: HDD issue fixed thanks to this guide.
