Problems with FX-8120+GTX 670

Thread Starter
So I have spent most of my summer working to build a nice rig to last me a while but this year I decided why not go with AMD's new 8-Core CPU since this really brought my attention on a magazine. So here is my build

Corsair Obsidian 650D
GIGABYTE 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
AMD FX-8120 CPU Zambezi 4.43 GHz
EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 670 FTW
Corsair H100 Water Cooling
Corsair TX 750W Power Supply
WD 500GB HDD 7200RPM
Fresh Windows 7 installation as well

So my big question is; Why is my frame rate dropping in high end games? Could it be the CPU? My friend has an i5 3570k and is well getting twice the frame rate as I do in Battlefield 3..

If you're playing 48/64 player multi player servers then yeah your CPU is holding you back. I moved from an 8150 to a 3570k

The CPU is overclocked, but the graphics card is at stock speeds. I turned things that would make the O.C. unstable, but only got it to 4.43 stable at max temps of 72° C

Not a pre-build

I don't think the max temp for FX-8120s is 72c. I believe it's more like 61c.

72° C on full load. Under load gets like 45° C max, my idle is 17° C
