Corsair H80 fans not working. Fan is always running on low ! Help!

Hi,

I have a weird problem. I have a h80 cooler installed along with myy i5 3570k. during boot, the lights blink for a sec and then the fans run at max speed before slowing down.

I have put the profile to MAX (all three lights have lit up), yet, it is not running at max speed.

My CPU temps have gone till 90 degs C and yet, the fans ran at low speed. Can you please help me out with this issue.

My build is:

BitFenix Merc Alpha casing
ASUS Maxims V Gene Mobo
Intel Core i5 3570k processor (OCd to 4.4Ghz yesterday)
Corsair Vengence 8Gb(4 x 2) 1866 DDR3 RAM
Corsair H80 cooler
Corsair GS 600w PSU

Please help cuz my CPU temps are going way off the charts! Idle temps going up to 60 degs and on load it runs to 90 degs.

Thanks in advance,
KP

I got a chuckle out of that.

@OP
Have you tried remounting the pump/block? And are the fans plugged into the pump itself? You say it's idling at 60 and loading at 90, do the hoses and radiator feel hot? If not, then it is a transfer issue, reseat the block and try again.
If the hoses and radiator are hot, but the fans are still on low, it's a defective controller in the pump.

Out of curiousity, try running the fans off of a motherboard header (or 12v rail), if your temp drops dramatically, I'd RMA the H80.

Edit: fix'd

Its a H80, not H100.

Run the fans off molex and see.

1. Yes.. I did remount it. I am seeing that it does increase fan speed. But its only a small increase. Not sure how to confirm if there is an increase or not.
2. Fans are plugged into the pump itself.
3. Haven't touched the radiator while it was running. Will try this and update.
4. Will try running the fans off the motherboard header and see if it helps. will update this too.

Thanks for the info. Will try these out and hopefully, it won't lead to RMA..smile.gif

Cheers,
KP

I will have to buy a 3-pin to molex convertor for this. Will keep this as an option too.smile.gif

Thanks for the info.

Make sure both fans are plugged in fully I had the same problem. I think mine came loose while cleaning up cable management.

In that case will the fans even work? Cause, one of the fan headers is not going all the way through to the end. It does work in full speed though on boot. So I am guessing this is not an issue. However, will try to plug it in completely. Thanks for the info.

Cheers,
KP
