Arg. Guess I re-do it this weekend. I did do it in a line, but I then spread it out myself instead of letting the cooler do it.
let the HSF take care of it. Also you may just have a really concave chip or cooler. You could try lapping it if you wanted to get that involved. and ekk I would shot myself with temps like that, but I guess thats the new chips..

What speed are you running @ Pook? I was getting about 55-57, but that was @ 3.01 with the stock cooler and AS5.

I always ran the fan full speed (disabled fan control in BIOS) that did help.

The stock cooler, sadly, isn't very good.

On a more practical note, Arctic Silver recommends that you run some sort of CPU burn for a hour or so, then shut off PC overnight. Apparently it lets the "molecules" slide in to the right places...

I did this and my temps dropped about 1 or 2 degrees...

EDIT: on my core 2 system, I reseated the heatsink 4 times before getting it right. It's all about the thin line over the 2 cores, put the heatsink firmly and DON'T touch after you've put the pins in... the first 2 times I put the HS on I always "jiggled" it to see if it was secure, and was probably messing up the bond between IHS and cooler.

If you want to compare temps to "other" CPU's, it'd be ~40C. The sensor is in a different spot on C2D's. C2D's "roof" is 85C 24/7, while most everything elses is ~55/60C.

Running stock ATM. Ya, gunna let it fold for a few hours then shut it off while I sleep.

Possibly. I did turn on the two front fans though. Used to be off.

ARG!

I just reallied it TWICE!

Yesterday I did the line thinger. Which is what this topic is about.

Then earlier today I did it again, but let it spread itself out instead of spreading it out myself. Temps were about 2C higher than the first time I did it. So for the hell of it, I just put it the same way I did with my A64 and temps are about 1/2C higher than the SECOND time I did it. ARG!

*edit*

Well, its about 5F hotter in my room than yesterday...

I think you might just have a hot chip. or the IHS isn't right or its really concave.

Do you think it's possible that under the IHS there isn't enough thermal compound (or solder) between it and the CPU core?

It was "fine" with the stock stuffs. (Never tested load).

Lower idle by about 4C with the stock stuff.
