Steam Support time?

So my son had his account stolen, they changed the email address registered and the password, my bad for not educating him about phishing in general redface.gif

Anyway...has anyone had to go through Steam Support before to get an account back?
Just wondering how long they usually take to respond with account recovery?

Your gonna wait a good long 2-3 Days for just a RESPONSE. Steam has to up there game in the Support Department.

It varies they can get it back to him within a couple hours or a couple days at max. I had mine hacked a couple times.

Ok i see, i submited a ticket on friday so maybe it wont be too long now.

We kinda asked for it i suppose, he spends time at my house and his mums so i told him to leave steam guard off,
Needless to say we had a chat and Steam guard will be turned back on when we regain account rolleyes.gif

You didn't have the "Steam Guard" in use? As if something tries to happen with your account they email you and let you know about it. It amazes me that folks still try to get accounts. But the world will never change. Sad to see stuff like this happen. But since it is the weekend it will be a few days before you get a response. Thanks

Note:
In the event that a hijacked Steam account is banned by the Valve Anti-Cheat System, Steam Support can not remove the ban.

O_O u betterr hope this doesnt happen. And yea the worst part is that ur credit card might still be linked to the account or something. Best of luck retrieving the account and I hope when u catch the guy that hacked the account I hope this happens axesmiley.png

Yup i saw that before i submitted the ticket so gave them info about how purchases are made, credit card usually, gave details they set out so they shouldnt need any more info hopefully.

redface.gif nope....he logs in here and at his mums, he lives between both our houses so just left it off so he can log in quicker.....my bad.
It stays on after this, my account has Steam guard on since...well since it was introduced, its just my sons that has the guard off.

Anyway, lesson learned the hard way which seems about right for me unfortunately biggrin.gif

Still not even a single word from Steam support yet mad.gif
Im beggining to get a bit concerned now, i mean i know they are busy but....can they really not afford to even reply in the slightest,? I think its kinda bad really, its clearly an area that Valve can make much much improvement.

People rage about Origin but i will say this....at least Origin reply quick and last time i checked there was even live chat support, my last request for support with EA/Orign took 20-25 mins from seeking help to getting a result.

Anyway, 3 tickets from me and nothing from Valve, great ! tongue.gif
