How to best set-up a gaming mouse

Hi

I have noticed that allot of people don't set up there mice right for gaming and have had to guide a few friends though setting things up.

So I made a video that goes through things quickly and in a clear way.

I'm sure most the people here alredy know the information in this video, but at the same time I know allot of people with top end mice that still play with smoothing or other strange settings.

I'm aware that allot of games now will override windows settings and the mouse is often application independent but I dont think it can hurt to have it set up right in the first place.

The thing with the DPI depends on if the higher DPI steps are actually any good and doesnt lower malfunction speed or jitter.

using higest dpi and lowest sens is just wrong. youre not teaching people the right settings apart from windows at 6th notch. theres a reason why pro players use 450 dpi, no not because they play at lower resolutions. 450 is most common towards snipers, 800ish for smg players, 1800 for overall high sens gamers.

A high DPI with a lower in game setting should in general be better than a low dpi setting with a higher in game setting or at worse the difference will be moot.

The only occasion this is not the case is if a specific mouse has a set DPI in which the mouse can communicate faster with the PC or happens to have better accuracy due to some nuance of the software. ( maybe it is the case that the latency does get higher with higher DPI settings if someone has a source to prove that , I would love to know)


The point of the video is to

1) get new people to set mouse up right in windows the two main things are notch 6 and no smoothing
2) Convey to new people how mouse speed can affect aiming ( allot of people I know think by default having a super fast mouse is best)


In the video I also say its about finding what works for you and I also say at the end of the video if you have a gaming mouse that has multiple DPI settings then you should set them up to whatever is comfortable for you taking into account speed v accuracy from the start of the video.

I'm not sure I can think of a better way to explain mouse movement and get the basic settings into such a short video that is clear and simple for new people.

I am open to ideas though !
