There's no need to resort to hyperbole here. I didn't call you bastards, nor did I tell anyone they're wrong for participating, nor did I imply you needed to give the OP the '3rd degree'
I said it's not possible to answer the question without knowing what the rig is used for. You HAVE to know this to give a CORRECT answer. It's that simple. Without knowing that, you might as well just tell someone to upgrade every hardware component of their PC, because any answer in terms of particular parts you'd choose are just as valid (or invalid) as any other.

As per brettjv's suggestion, I will clarify. The rig is being used pretty much nothing but gaming. I originally posted this because I noticed in CPU intensive games (IE skyrim), I would be getting fps dips down to 40fps while my GPU usage was sitting at only 50 or 60 percent.
Thank you for clarifying

I agree that a CPU bottleneck (and CPU overclocking) is the most logical 'place to start' based on this info, but it is not 100% definitely 'the issue'. There's many other *possible* explanations for the observation of Lower Than Expected FPS + Lower than Expected GPU usage ... but like I say, CPU BN is the most likely/common reason, so it makes sense to start there
Bacon, is your Skyrim totally up to date with patches? If not, you should definitely patch it. The second is ... what other games are you referring to as being 'CPU-Intensive' that you've noticed the issue with? What settings are you running them at?Edited by brettjv - 8/27/12 at 6:25pm
