Not to derail this thread but I would suggest you go the traditional textbook route.

For text books you need to

- highlight
- go back and recheck multiple highlighted areas quickly
- access multiple pages simultaneously or within short intervals
- share

It'd be hard with a tablet, mainly I'd think it'd be hard to access multiple pages at a time like with a physical book.

This. If its reading for pleasure than thats a whole different story but there is nothing like having the text book in hand IMHO.

Hope your purchase works out.

Don't want to get into the details, but let's just saving I'm saving at least 1000 dollars with a tablet. Regardless, I'll address your points:

Highlighting isn't really an option if you want to resell the textbook, because it wouldn't be in as good condition. Besides, it doesn't really fit my study style. Accessing multiple pages isn't an issue, because you can just open your ebook multiple times on your tablet and just alt tab (i.e. use JellyBean's quick app switcher) between each one. It's quite funny that you mentioned that you can share a physical textbook, but I don't want to get into that on this site.
