OCZ ZX 1250 or Corsair HX 1050

Thread Starter
Need help deciding between these two power supplies. I will be doing a 3 way SLI down the road, not sure if 580's (have one) or 3x 660ti. Will both these power supplies be sufficient? They're both the same price before rebate, OCZ is 20 cheaper after (179-30). I've heard bad things about OCZ, but cant seem to find any negative reviews on this particular PSU. Help please! Would like to order tonight/tomorrow. Thankyou.
This will be a z77 board, maybe ROG Maximus V Extreme. I7 probably 3770K.

Corsair is the choice because of their high tier customer service. Unless you plan on running a fourth GPU and/or extreme RPM fans then that HX1050 should work nicely for you.

Depending on the price, you should also look into the Seasonic X1050. Since it is the reference design that Corsair uses on the HX1050, and can be found much cheaper sometimes. As for the OCZ, no clue.

Obviously the ZX offers much better value for money, none of them are segment leaders in performance though, and they are more or less on par (performance wise)... your two potential 3way setups are on the opposite sides of the power consumption spectrum... the 580s are power hogs, each of them consuming more than twice what a single 660Ti does under similar testing conditions. A 3way 660Ti setup would run flawlessly on a high end ~650W PSU, the 580s on the other hand require 1KW+ (1.2KW+ if you have overvolting in mind as well).
